I am going to have my hubby create a CD for me to play in the classroom. I would like to have some songs for soothing, quiet work time and some songs a bit more upbeat. Can anyone tell me some favorite songs you play for your students? I am tired of just classical music!

I was going to recommend something, but it is classical.

How about some kids broadway songs? I bought a cd and I believe the name was something like, "Kids Do Broadway" or something similar. The kids really love it. It has some great classic songs from broadway shows. I typically play classical while the kids are working, but during snack and at other times throughout the day, we listen to this type of music. The kids are singing along now. Very cute!

Go to Amazon and order For our Children and For our Children Too (nope, not a typo on the spelling) http://www.amazon.com/Our-Children-Too-Pediatric-Foundation/dp/B0000033UA

They're collections of childrens' songs by artists you already know and love-- Paul McCartney, Elton John (that song makes me cry) Celine Dion, Little Richard (You'll never hear The Itsy Bitsy Spider the same way again.)

But BUY them-- the money supports Pediatric Aids.

Alice- that looks like an amazing cd! I wish they had them on Amazon new, but I don't see them on there. I wonder if I can get it from ITunes and have the money still go to the Pediatric Aids. Not sure how ITunes works when you buy the CD's from them.

    I don't have a clue, sorry.

I bought both of them when my kids were little...you can only take so many hours of traditional kiddie music before you start pulling your hair out, you know?

But you could always buy it used, then donate the difference between that price and what you WOULD have paid to pediatric aids :)

    THanks trayums!

We have 3 sons ages 6, 9 & 12 and we all like to listen to a lot of music on XM Kids. (Satellite Radio)

Artists we really like... Billy Jonas, Trout Fishing in America, Justin Roberts and Joe McDermott. Really good music, intelligent, clever, make ya think-and-laugh lyrics.
