I am looking for a good reading response log for my second and third graders. I tried several forms but they are not working out. I want my kids to full out a reading log during independent reading.

    Thanks

There is a company called S&S Learning Materials in Ontario, Canada. They have whole booklets called "Reading Response Forms" which have a variety of things in them. I think they are leveled gr. 1-3 and 4-6. I teach 6-8 but have used several of the forms from 4-6 and found them quite useful.

Do they have a spot for genres? Or is that only on a reading log?

Lakeshore has a really neat reading response journal. You might check out their website.

Check out the Beth Newingham's website at the Troy Hills School District website. What she does to facilitate reading in her classroom is phenomenal and she does include genres on her reading logs.
