There is a district in my area that uses the STAR teacher assessment before hiring their teachers. I have taken this before and have no issue with this part. What I have issue with is paying for the assessment. The school system asks you pay the $10 fee. While this is not a large fee, there are not a lot of positions in the school system right now. I am living on a very small amount of unemployment, and right now $10 is a lot of money. I am wrestling with whether or not it is worth it to pay the fee. Any suggestions?

I would think of it as an investment for a job. Maybe borrow some money from a friend and pay them back double when you are hired!!

I would pay it. I would also maybe call HR and see where they are in the hiring process for this position. For example, if they are interviewing already or maybe have offered someone the job then don't waste your money.
