I am teaching second grade this year and I want to do something fun for my bulletin board but I can't think of anything and all of the ideas that I've found on Pinterest and Google suck! The school's mascot is a viking with colors red and blue. I don't necessarily want to incorporate that but if people can come up with some cool ideas that'd be great.

    Be creative! And thank you!:help:

So you've got no ideas of your own? Do you have a classroom theme or a back to school topic or activity you could highlight?

What have you done in the past?

If all the ideas on google and Pinterst "suck" then the odds of me coming up with something better at this point in time are pretty slim.

What ideas have you already discounted?

I'm new to second grade so I'm am not totally sure what is age appropriate in terms of maturity. Obviously, things that I've done in kindergarten are going to be too immature for 2nd grade. No themes, it's just for a welcome/back to school sort of thing. I just want something fresh and unique that hasn't been done a million times.

I always just bought your things like that apple puzzle and put the kids names on the pieces but I didn't want to do something that thoughtless this time.

On pinterest I don't like the popcorn, or the sailing, or the movie themed one. I kind of like the twister one but I'm not going to go buy twister just for a bulletin board.

I thought this one was cute. [IMG]
You could make the shirts in your school colors and put a picture of your school mascot where the faces are until you have student pictures.

Janney- Haha that was one of the other ones I kind of liked! But I didn't know how to do it without pictures of the kids. I love the mascot idea. I saw another one where it was shirts and ''all stars'' like a baseball team and I liked that one too so perhaps this is what I will attempt. Thank you!

..I've seen that one quite a few times. A first grade teacher in my building does one similar to that every year.
I'm sure you can be creative and find a way to make it work.

You won't be without pictures of the kids for long. Put the shirts up with just names then, on the first day of school, take digital pictures. Print them out the first night and post for the second day of school.

Superheros are the big ticket these days, maybe a Superman/Wonder Woman theme?

I am doing this except with a twist. My board is titled "Look Who Is Hanging Out In Room 2".
I have written each student's name on a white cutout t-shirt. I'm giving the students magazines and they will cut out pictures or words that tell about themselves. They'll glue on the pictures and or words. I have divided my hallway BB in half due to the 12 ft. size. The other side is entitled "All Aboard, Next Stop Second Grade" I used the Ellison machine to cut out locomotives and printed their names on them.

I was on Pinterest just the other day looking at bulletin board ideas and I thought a lot of them were amazing.
