Help - I have a new MacBook and I love it, but I need some type of sleeve or case for it. It will rarely leave my home, but when I take it I need to protect it. Time is short (vacation) and there is no Apple store w/in 2 hours.

Staples has some neoprene (??) sleeves that look interesting. Does anyone use this - or should I go for a case? Thanks in advance!

I'm looking at Vera Bradley, Mediterrean Blue, for mine. In fact, I'm going to take my lap top with me to see if it fits, my lt is 17 inches so it might not fit.

If you just want to protect it while it is in another bag or you are carrying it, a sleeve is fine. That's what I use.

If you are afraid it might get bumped around, I would go with a full, padded case. A sleeve won't help much if it gets banged or dropped.

I just bought a sleeve from the Apple store for my daughter's ibook that was $35. It's very pretty... but I'm not sure if it will stand the test of time. We'll see. :D

I am a huge fan of ebags.com. They have a huge selection to choose from, and then you get emails for sales and discounts.

I just bought one at IKEA for $5 and I love it :) It doesn't have a strap or anything, but I can put it in any bag with the case on and have it protected.

Staples has them on sale starting Sunday. There's a link to the ad in the Back to School Shopping forum.

I saw some sleeves at Wal-Mart sometime last year. I am not sure how durable they are but I think they were fairly inexpensive.

I have a neoprene type case by "in case" that my MacBook slides into; I haven't had any trouble with it.

The sleeve really is just to protect it while it is in another bag. I have a pretty lap top bag in red leather that looks like a teacher briefcase. I love it. The straps are sturdy and long enough to wear on my shoulder. I only put my computer in it. It's fashionable and professional looking for work. I still put the computer in a sleeve before putting it in the laptop bag though.

Thanks, all! I found a neoprene sleeve on E-bags, but they have it at my staples, too, so I'll wait for the sale. I will get a real case, too, eventually. I will just slide this into my "Scout" bag for now w/ my magazines/books/vacation essentials!
