Hello, I am trying to work on a brochure but don't know where to start because I can't quite envision it, does somebody mind showing me theirs so that I can know what direction to go in?

There you go
I love the brochure idea! I had a packet with copies of lesson plans, the required paper work, and for fun, I put pictures of projects I did with students as well as little notes I gathered from my experiences. I don't know if you'll have room, but the pictures are what the administrators and other teachers remembered. Good Luck in your endeavors!
Is the brochure a more current way of presenting your resume, recommendation letters, and portfolio all in a snapshot?
Athena, if you PM me I can send you my brochure. I haven't gotten any specific feedback on it but I have gotten five interviews since I started sending it out.
do you send it with a resume/cover letter? does it include pictures? i've thought about sending it with my regular application things but i think I'd probably take out all the pictures
I think it would look rather dull without pictures. My pictures are not over-bearing or central... but they do break up the writing a bit (imagine reading a newspaper without ANY pictures... Zzzzzzz) Now, i don't take a good picture...i am CERTANLY NOT photogenic! I'm average looking...but I can't take a decent pic for my LIFE. So only one picture is of me teaching. Others are of kids actively engaged in my classroom. I could do this WITH faces showing...or crop it so faces don't show...but I prefer faces. (And faces WERE allowed at my school-plus those parents gave me their permission to use their kids' pics if it were only for my brochure.) What i WOULD NOT do is to put a single posed (photographers or yearbook) picture of myself...or me in a "life" picture..ex:with friends at a baseball game, or out to dinner with a spouse. If it can't be teaching kids...i wouldn't use it. BUT... you can ALSO use educational clip art. Just to break up the writing....which would be dull.
clip art is a god idea. i'm not sure I'd send them out with actual pictures but I do have pictures of me teaching in the one I am planning to use for interviews. I think I might design a seperate one for sending in the mail.
My brochure has my contact information and a picture of me teaching on the front. The back has the "quick glance" important information (education, experience, licenses), there is a flap that pulls quotes from my Phil of Ed. Inside, I have a small picture at the top of each section. One section is dedicated to my educational methods, one to classroom management, and the last (and most important) deals with the "J-factor" or the Joy-Factor (how I make teaching fun). If you want to PM, I will send you my brochure.
I do send it out with initial applications. Like I said, I'm not sure if that's whats getting me interviews or not but last year when not using one, I only got one interview. As for pictures, I do have a picture of me on the front that is "yearbook-y". I like to think it puts a face with the name, ya know? I also have pics of me with students and a couple of pictures of a learning center I did. I also used clip art.
