You guys voted the Crayola Crayon theme for my classroom. Now I just need ideas to help put it together. Here's what I have so far:

    1. print colorful, large names and write each student's name on each crayon. Glue them to a stick to use as name sticks.

    2. BB for student work: Border with primary colors

    3. Self-portrait for first week of school: Students draw their face, then it gets glued onto the body of a large, poster crayon and put on wall.

    4. Pencil holder- Use a hot glue gun to glue down crayons on a container to hold pencils.

That's what I have so far. What do you think, and do you have other suggestions? Thanks!

If your student desks are arranged into groups, you could name them based on colors. Give them the color and they come up with the second half, ie, Red Robins, Green Goblins, etc.

This is random, but you simply must have a melting plate in your classroom. Nothing at all reminds me of those early school years than the smell of melting crayons. Now I am sure they'd be considered "dangerous", but oh how awesome they were. Just a specialized hot plate of sorts, some glossy paper, and crayons. Man, I'm five right now as a I type. :)

Did someone say "ideas for a theme?!?!?!" I'm on it. I love a theme. Give me a day or two. I just hosted an "art theme birthday party" for my son so I love the idea of a Crayola Crayon classroom. The bright colors will be fabulous.

You could make crayola crayon picture frames to display the childrens art in throughout the year. You could also make a crayola crayon crown for the children to wear for special occasions (birthdays, etc.). Also, you could glue the crayons into different shapes. One shape per group (groups of desks). This would allow the children to learn the concept of shapes as well. You could take a picture of each shape and tape it on the group table or hang them above the groups.

Going off this idea couldn't you have them or you do something with crayon shavings and melt it with an iron... Maybe like someone said put a bulletin board with CREATE!!! Or even the frames like someone said....

I think it would be awesome if you made one of these. I'm making one and I'm not doing a crayon theme. Jodi at clutter free classroom made one and put the word create under the crayons.
