I am obtaining my cerification to teach elementary school Spanish through the alternate route. I will be entering a summer program this year and will be required to have a teaching job in my field by Sepember 2006! My background is in corporate communications, I have a BA and MA in Corp Communications. I am currently substitute teaching in an elementary school, My first language is Spanish and I have done translations freelance jobs for the 5 years tha I have been a home with my twins. I am now trying to get a resume ready but have no idea how to make it look professional since I do not have teaching experience.

I would greatly appreciate resume and cover letter tips. Thanks a million!

On your resume, include any experience you have with kids. Volunteer work, tutoring, subbing, PTA (if you have your own kids in school). I don't think you will have a hard time finding a job with your Spanish skills. At least in Texas there is a high demand for bilingual teachers. I am not sure about New Jersey.
