I know people have asked this type of question before, and I thought it would never happen, but it did! I had a panel interview for a 2nd grade position today that went pretty well. They said they'd make their decision in the next few days, so I was going to email my thank you's this time. Well the principal was there, as well as the three other 2nd grade teachers. However, there was one 3rd grade teacher there and I can't remember her name! Ugh! There was no secretary there, so the only person I can ask to find out her name is the principal.

I feel so stupid. I only had one name to remember, and I couldn't do it. Anyway, do you think it would be ok to ask the principal her name. I was thinking of saying "I'm sorry, but I can't remember the third grade teacher's name who was in our interview. Could you let me know as I would like to send her a thank you as well".

    Please help! Thanks!

That sounds perfectly reasonable. The P will know you were stressed a little at the interview and it's easy to forget.

Would you remember it if you heard again?? If so, maybe try the school website to see if they list teachers by grade level. It would be worth a shot if you heard the name and just didn't remember. If this doesn't work, try the secretary, just because she/he wasn't in the interview doesn't mean the secretary doesn't know everyone on the panel. Then finally if this doesn't work, I would try the prinicpal.

Good Luck with the interview - I hope you hear good news soon :)

I was going to suggest trying the school website. Our school website has the teacher's picture on the Faculty's Page. So if you don't remember the name, you might remember the face.

It's totally OK to call the principal and ask for the name you need. You could also check the spellings of the teachers' names on the website...'Spelling DOES count!!'

Thanks everyone. I ended up just sending a thank you email to the principal before I read the responses, that thanked him and everyone else, without using names. In fact, he just called about 20 minutes ago to let me know I did not get the job. However, he said if he had 2 positions, he would have given me one, and that he would recommend me for other current openings in the district, so that was nice.

That is nice and I hope that something opens up real soon. Sometimes things come up and people have to resign.

I'm sorry that you didn't get the position, but hopefully his recommendation will help you get another job in the district.

I'm sorry that you didn't get it. But, at least it was quick and it may lead to another job.

Here's my suggestion. It was a third grade teacher... go to the school's website. More often these days- more and more teachers have webpages...adn those webpages have pictures. See which third grade teacher you recognize.

    it's a thought

BTW... I was told this by a large district last summer. I didn't get a job there-but I DID have my name passed on to a few principals. So that comment CAN be gold!
