    Hello there,
I am looking into switching my automotive career to teaching. i am looking to teach either in Michigan, Indiana, or Illinois. I am looking for information on what i need to do to meet the requirements to become a high school automotive shop teacher. if anyone could be kind enough to lead me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it.

I would visit the dept of ed for the states you are interested. Most DOE websites have a section on certification which should point you in the right direction.

You would really need to check for your state's department of education. Each state is different. Good luck! I teach at a vocational school and I think vocational education is great!

My husband teaches automotive technology at a technical college here in Georgia. He has a bachelors degree but some of the people he works with do not. You should check high schools, vocational schools and community/technical colleges for information and what you need to do to qualify.
Some schools will let you teach while you are going to school for your degree.
We used to live in Michigan, and my husband worked as a technical trainer for Ford. So he already had teaching experience in addition to his degree.
Good Luck with your career change
