We are required to do an interactive Good Morning/Welcome board in our classroom. I'm teaching 6th grade math this year. I'm not creative in coming up with these. Example: On Sept 9 my board said... Today is National Teddy Bear Day, What is your Teddy Bears name? The idea is to get the kids thinking and up in the morning (I guess). I get to find out info about the kids. Yesterday I put everyones name on the board by scrambling their letters. Then they had to unscramble the letters, find their name and write it correctly beside the scrambled one. This told me who was reading the welcome board.

    Any suggestions?

I tell my students what holiday it is every day (or what week or month it is if there is nothing for the day.) I use brownielocks.com. You could somehow link that to the exercise on some days. Today, for example, is video games day!
