When my kindergartners enter the classroom in the morning, they do handwriting work at their desks and there is soft piano music playing in the background. When the music changes to "There's a Little Wheel a'Turning in My Heart" (Laurie Berkner version), they know it's time to turn in their work and come to the rug for our morning meeting. It works beautifully and the song is perfect, but we've been listening to it for months now and they want a new one. I love that Little Wheel has quiet and loud parts and it's the perfect length (just over 2 minutes). Any ideas for a new song for us? Thanks!
I use: Here comes the sun by the Beetles. Beautiful day by U2 (I use the instrumental version) both are around three minutes.
I use MANY. A favorite is Start This Day With a Song by Jack Hartmann. It also has movement for kids to do as they walk over or once they arrive and are waiting.
I love to listen It's a beautiful morning, Poker face by Lady Gaga and I feel you in the morning...!!! http://977music.com/online-radio.html
3 Days out of the week my Kinders come in, put their folders away & line up to go to specials. No music for us.
Poker Face? Really? Not what I'd consider appropriate for elementary kids...some questionable lyrics Not sure what 'I Feel You in the Morning' is, but it has me wondering about appropriateness as well....hmy:
Yea, czacza, not sure where those suggestions came from. Don't get me wrong--I love Lady Gaga when I'm working out. Just not in my K classroom! I gave the kids three options and they voted for Buzz Buzz by the Laurie Berkner band. I was worried they'd get a little rowdy with it, but they aren't and they love it! My goal this summer is to learn to play one song on the guitar: Hello Everybody from the Music Together folks. I'd love to start every day with that. Thanks again!
