    From DPI's website:

"This year, awards will be provided at the amounts of $1,053 per certified staff at schools earning high growth designations. Certified staff at schools meeting expected growth will receive awards of $527.

For teacher assistants the amounts are $351 for high growth and $263 for expected growth."

I like this development to a powerful vacuum cleaner- it really kind of sucks.

It is nice to make some money, but the amount is SIGNIFICANTLY less than promised.

I don't know what was promised, so $1000 sounds good to me right now :)
I had to take $600 out of savings so far this summer and will have to buy 2 tanks of gas before I get paid (about $160) plus all of my food has to come out of my savings.
So, I am going to come out close to even, which is a HUGE sigh of relief since I am trying to buy a house!!!!

This is my first year in NC also but apparently it's previously been $1500. While the cut sucks, I guess it's better than nothing, right? We also made high growth.

Yup! Since I was never given $1500, I will not miss the $447! I am happy! :)

I've heard they come out in October or November depending on when the state finalizes all the EOG's results...if there is a Veteran NC teacher on here that knows more...please let us know! (my old school made expected growth so I will be seeing the $527)

I didn't know that money was coming last year until it came! By the time it reached me, I was living in Virginia and had recently been homeless. My car had just broken down. Talk about a life-saver! I expected bills in the mail and I found a check for $1200! I actually called my former district to ask them if it was a mistake, and they explained it. I was over the moon!

Too bad it's getting cut, but I'll still take it, lol!

What month did you receive your check? Just wondering when I will be able to pay myself back...

I got it in November, but I think it was dated some time in October. I had moved a few times and it had to follow me through the mail.

It will probably be in November/December this year because they still have to wait for the reading scores to come back. When they had to wait for the math scores a few years ago it seemed like it took forever to find out which schools made it.

Reading scores are not supposed to be calculated into ABC's this year. In the past it has always been October-ish.

I won't get it this year, since I made the (horrible) choice to move out of state for a year, but I'm planning on sticking around in NC for a while this time!

Last year it came at the end of October. They take about 25% of it for taxes.

I haven't seen that bonus money since 2003, so no big loss to me. Oh Well... Maybe someday again.

Were science scores included in the ABCs or just math? I don't think so, but I can't remember. I don't even know our science scores (we haven't been given them unless they did it over the summer) but I know they have to be awful!!

I didn't think they were. But, I wasn't sure if things were changed or I was wrong (wait that NEVER happens- I am ALWAYS right ;))
