Looking for any websites/books/pictures you have come across in your years of teaching that are related to the Native Americans and their lifestyle. (I'm teaching Michigan's Tribes, but any Native American site is appreciated.) Thank you.
Here is a nice interactive video lesson that shows the eastern woodlands Indians at Thanksgiving: http://www.scholastic.com/scholastic_thanksgiving/
I'm sure you're probably aware of this already, but please make sure you emphasize that Native Americans USED TO live in that way. Most Native Americans today live pretty much like everyone else. I live in Oklahoma and people STILL expect to see teepees and head dresses when they come here.
Crazy Horse I don't have any specific sites for you but consider discussing the Crazy Horse statue being built near Mt Rushmore. I had some photos from when I visited there a few years ago and the kids really got into the whole story.
I've mentioned this site somewhere here before, but it's a great reference (check especially the long list of articles in the right hand sidebar.) http://americanindiansinchildrensliterature.blogspot.com/ Also this site: http://www.oyate.org/aboutus.html.

You are so right. Sadly, when I went to nearby Navajo tribe, I was shocked to see cars, regular clothes and "homes". I crawled out from under the rock I had been living under real quick.
Here is their official tribal homepage, if that helps. http://www.delawaretribeofindians.nsn.us/ You will also find them spelled Lenapi and Lenni Lanape, if that helps. They are part of the Delaware Indians.
A couple of nifty interactive maps: http://www.mrnussbaum.com/nativeamericans.htm http://www.mrnussbaum.com/indianwars.htm Also, a nifty Elton John song lyrics: http://www.eltonography.com/songs/indian_sunset.html song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2t4XpeEuXA
