Appreciation Week. What is going on where you are? We got a parade a limo and a 21 gun salute. but no more $$$
Both of my schools feed us on Wed. Most days a breakfast type thing. Not sure what else is going down this week but my B school has a very active PTO that does lots for us.
Breakfast, lunches, and snacks provided by various restaurants, church groups, parents, and our P and secretary. Also, thank you letters from our P and parents. Simple, but thoughtful!
Nothing, but I didn't expect it. I don't need stuff, but I would appreciate a thank you. Especially since the secretaries got huge flower arrangements and balloons a couple weeks ago...
A thank you would be nice. J's school is doing something every day for their teachers. That district as a whole does this for their teachers.
Got a nice note from the superintendent with the suggestion we check our home mail for a nice goodie package.
Our parent organization does something small every day of the week--Monday morning there were geraniums on our desks, today a coupon for a Polar Pop and snacks in the work room, breakfast tomorrow morning at our staff meeting, and we got a message day asking what our favorite pizza toppings are for Friday.
We have breakfast and coffee delivered to the faculty lounges every morning this week, which is nice.
We're celebrating next week due to state testing this week. Two breakfasts are planned...one from our PTO, one the supe is hosting. The PTO usually gives gift cards. Happy Teacher Appreciation, all!
Our PTA usually goes ALL out with a huge luncheon and small goodies in each mailbox every day of the week. Last year they sent home stationery for the kids to write thank yous on and then presented them to us during the week- we LOVED that. This year there was a basket in the office yesterday of candy that said something like "for a group of sweet teachers" and today there was a basket of seed packets with a similar saying. A cute idea, but I preferred when they put things in mailboxes- my day was busy yesterday and by the time I got to the office everything had been ravaged. You KNOW there were people that took more than their share! No news of a luncheon this year, either...strange...it's not necessary, but it's a bit weird that they have one every single year and all of a sudden everything is low key. Our secretaries got beautiful orchids last week.
Well, I discovered sometime on Sunday evening that a whole ring of teacher-bloggers were hosting a TeachersPayTeachers.com blog hop of giveaways Sunday only. So I stayed up half the night downloading stuff and now have a huge hangover from that, but I think it was better than anything my school or PTO would have scraped up even if they WERE observing teacher appreciation anything. Since my school is so not on top of this stuff, I think I came out ahead TPT still has deep discounts all week, and while I previously had barely explored it, this was the perfect opening to discover that I am actually a huge fan of it. I was sort of hoping to see more nice sales from other places, though. I wouldn't mind, say, free dunkin donuts for those bearing teacher ID's, or something like that. If anything like that happened, I didn't hear about it.
We have received little snacks in our teacher boxes each morning, and today we had a big luncheon. We're also getting tickets randomnly throughout the day that I think will be used for a drawing for a big prize.
There was a huge banquet style breakfast, and there was food delivered from a local Italian restaurant for lunch. And a big sign in the gym that all the students wrote on!
Nothing...not even a Happy Teacher's Day. I attempted to set up an assembly and I was told that I had to include all of the assistants if I did it because it wouldn't be fair. Our assistants are hired by an outside company and were given a $1500 bonus that us teachers didn't get, so in my opinion, they were already recognized.
I got a card from a student. They had snacks in the office but they were long gone before my lunch. I'd rather have the student drawn card over some chips and dip any day!
We got breakfast this morning and there will be a lunch provided on Friday. They've also been putting a little treat in our box every day.
We got a passive-aggressive email from the superintendent who was really upset that teachers won at arbitration against the district. At school, they're catering lunch tomorrow. The student council kids have been giving us little treats and will do so for the rest of the week. On Monday it was a water bottle and a little packet of Crystal Light (the iced tea with lemon flavor, my favorite!), and today it was a Kit-Kat bar; both had really nice notes attached thanking us for all our hard work. Rumor has it that later in the week we'll be getting Pop Rocks. I know that the kidlets appreciate us. It would be nice to hear that the district also appreciates us....But I dream.
At past schools I didn't really get anything. I'm not sure that the students even knew about it. The school I'm at now is in a wealthier area and the kids get a lot for us. My contact parents sent me a survey and each day they do something special for us. Today every single one of my 32 students brought me a flower (or flowers). I'm not sure yet what they'll bring me the rest of this week. I can't believe how generous my students and their parents are though. Our PTO gave us a customized ruler and mechanical pencil with our school name and mascot. The secretaries put out a big basket of candy bars for us this morning.
An email from our Sup. An email from our P. Lunch provided by our P. A goodie bag from Student Council.
Get this: Today StuCo put a bunch of Hershey's Hugs and Kisses in our mailboxes for Teacher Appreciation Week. Someone, one of my coworkers, stole mine out of my mailbox. Can you believe that??
Caesar, that's not fair! Anyway...so far, we've gotten: Token for Mini-Blizzard from DQ Ticket for chicken sandwich from Chik-fil-A Lunch from a local church Breakfast two days this week so far. I'll be gone tomorrow, so I'm not sure what they're going to do. In the past, they've had a spa day, but there's been no sign up sheet, so I guess they're not doing that this year.
We were told there will be something set up tomorrow morning before the kids arrive. I'm assuming it's breakfast. I'll make sure to come into work hungry LOL
Caesar, That sucks BIG time! You should put a note on your mailbox saying, To whom it may concern, I hope you enjoyed them, and may your conscious GET TO YOU EVERY TIME YOU SEE HUGS & KISSES! Rebel1
We had a lovely cold breakfast one day, a sweets spread another, a nice (and handy) present from admin, and I think they're doing a sandwich spread tomorrow for lunch. No thanks yous from the students... instead, when they saw the sweets, they demanded to know when Student Appreciation Day was... and why teachers needed appreciation, anyway. Seventh graders Caesar - that's horrible and down-right rotten of that person.
We got a candy bar with a generic sticker on it saying thank you. With all the testing and other demands at this time of the year it was rather depressing. And to hear one of the part time teachers tell about the massages and meals that were being given them at her other school makes it worse.
We got lunch on Tuesday from the paras (baked potato bar with some salads and desserts), starbursts with a note on them, a baggie with s'more stuff and a note, and a sucker with a note. Mine are all at school so I don't remember what the notes all say, but they all relate to the item.
At school A we got a nice polo shirt with our school logo. A healthy salad bar/baked potato lunch. The city gave all the teachers a nice Tshirt about teaching. I brought them all Hardees for breakfast one morning. The principal brought in bagels and cream cheese one morning. At school B we got a different thing each morning and a lunch on Wednesday catered. Personally, I received a gator hat from one parent and a gator key ring from another. btw I didnt have to steal chocolate as someone put a bag on the table.
