Sure there were only two kids that competed in his division of the tennis ball throw, BUT WHO CARES!? A silver medal is a silver medal, right? :D

He also got a participation ribbon for the 50m race. He ran right off the track. lol

It was a really fun day though. You were right, sk! We'll be back next year. :)

Yeah it was a lot of fun. Ironically we'd been having great spring weather, but yesterday it was overcast, windy, and 50 degrees. We froze out butts off! But it was worth it. :)

    Congratulations!!

The county that I worked in, when I lived in Georgia, had a Special Olympics program. I absolutely loved it and my students always enjoyed themselves. Our adapted PE teacher trained my students.

Congrats! When I was in the multiply handicapped room at my school, we had a state "Tournament of Champions" which was basically a local version of the special olympics. It was incredibly fun and I loved it.

Then during high school the district started doing Special Olympics, and the kids loved it. The district has even hired a yoga instructor to help the special olympic athletes when it is a few weeks away from a meet. Sometimes they included the athletes in the yearly pep rally, provided the athlete was okay with the level of sound.

I'll bet he had a blast!

When we had an MI program at our school, all the kids went to the Special Olympics. As they left for the day, all of our students came down to the major hallway and cheered them off. They always had such a good time and our other kids were so encouraging to them. I wish the MI program had stayed with our school.
