We adopted AbbyDog (officially Abbicus Finch) 6 years ago as a 5 month old puppy.

We learned that Abby had originally been rescued by a woman that heard about Abby's litter being left on the side of a highway ... a radio announcer mentioned the story on air.

Abby was very sick. Her original rescuer spent over $1000 (I have the vet records).

Abby's original rescuer developed breast cancer and was not able to take care of Abby and had to take her to a shelter.

That is when we found Abby.

Through the vet records, I found her original rescuer's address and sent her photos and an update on Abby.

Since then, for the last 6 years, we have exchanged Christmas cards, letters and photos.

We got her card today! :)

I'm sure Abby's first furmommy loves seeing the photos you send of her. I'm glad Abby has lots of people who love her!

    Aw, that is so sweet!

It is so sad when people have to take their animals to a shelter because of an illness. Sad for both the owners and the animals.

Abby is lucky to have you!

Abby's rescuer survived cancer and now has 4 dogs. They look absolutely spoiled. :) Each one has a doggie bed that looks like a real bed (brass headboard) but doggie sized. :)

And, of course, Abby, and her adopted sister Boo, are the princesses of this house! :)

How wonderful that you keep the original rescuer in touch with Abby's life. Not knowing if Abby was having a happy life would be such a burden to carry.

What a wonderful thing. I'm sure you've brightened the first rescuer's life.

I am computing one handed because DeeOhGee is cradled in my left arm She was about to go to the pound but we got her a day before that would happen.
I love to read about what I call "Happy puppy stories"

My sister worked for Caltrans (she was the chief engineer on the job) and would pick up pups on the freeway all the time, she kept 2 of them "Roxie" and "Freeway"
Roxie was a Big German shepherd and my sister would take Roxie on her runs around the park. One day a stalker stepped out in front of her, well, he found out how much Roxie loved my sister. He tried to say he wasn't doing anything but my sister had witness and Letters from her HR office starting that the guy was "harassing" her.
The cops took the guy to the hospital and then to jail. Buying the dogs a steak was easy after that.

I love these kinds of stories, how fabulous! I'm glad the lady is still living to be able to enjoy her other dogs! And that's a fabulous thing that you did as well! :thumb:
