I know I am going to sound like the most evil person in the world but I am so excited that a co-worker who was a complete bully just quit. She and her partner in crime made life miserable for many teachers (including me)-spreading false rumors to co-teachers and parents, putting her class projects up over my students' work in the hallway. Every year I have to hear how the incoming 1st Graders are so low (when asked for a list of students only 2 or 3 were mine but the other Kinder teachers are friends with her, so they can do no wrong-I somehow messed up the other 40 kids from the other classes too).

Oh and the writing I post in the hall each week, I sit down with each student and tell them letter by letter what to write (who has time for that)-that's the story they told to parents, teachers and administrators. The last straw was when they tried to prove I wasn't teaching anything and pulled my students to administer a reading inventory when I was off-campus at a professional development. I'm sure they were surprised-I had some incredible readers last year. When we talked about goals as a faculty for the upcoming school year she announced that she was not going to work toward any of them. She would not be following the curriculum or implementing the strategies that were being required-no one is going to tell her how to teach.

The principal caught on and decided to split the dynamic duo up moving my nemesis to another grade. She was very upset by this and finally found another school that will hire her, good luck to them.

Sometimes things do work out for the best and what goes around does come around! It's a big step to a more positive campus for us! :D

Hooray! (Now if only some of that luck would spread--there is one name I would be glad not to see on our staffing list when I go back into school in a couple of weeks.)

Thanks so much guys! I will let you know what happens with the sidekick now-it should be interesting. That grade level might finally be able to get back to teaching effectively.

It's just so sad the impact one negative person can have on morale at a campus. Everyone seems to be breathing a little easier now without having to consider what "she" will say about everything.

ku - that's funny with the Seinfeld thing - I hadn't thought of that -her real name doesn't really lend itself to the "Newman" scoff he used to do.

rachel - yep, we actually have 2 positions - 1st and 4th. We're trying to find someone experienced because we have several brand new teachers on those grade levels already-but we'll start the year with a sub in each room-they'll hire someone quickly. If you're looking for a job in Houston pm me and I'd be glad to tell you the school.

    This is fantastic news!!

There was a bully on my team a few years ago and, likewise, our principal switched her to a higher grade and she quit over the summer!

WAHOO! Now if only I could have that luck-although mine is the sp. ed. teacher! She stacks my class with all the EBD/behavior students and then is going to put in a para that can barely move because of physical disabilities! GRRR! I wish your luck could be thrown my way!! :)

This is really great to hear. It is also sobering because so many good teachers languish and toil in terrible work situations where they aren't supported or even discouraged from doing a good job.

I agree with that Genmai- she affected not only the people who she kind of sucked into her negative philosophy but also the positive people who she targeted.

Well, we had our 1st in-service day today. They passed sign-up sheets for our committees and said every teacher must sign for 2 (they were like our Black History program, spelling bee judges-nothing that would tax anyone's time very much). The sidekick who is still there very vocally refused to sign up for any. She spent the whole time our P was talking texting on her cell phone. I really thought there was a chance she would be better without the influence of my nemesis, oh well. I have to present later on in the week and her grade level will be there-I'm requesting an administrator be present, just so there are witnesses to the attitude!
