    Hello all,
I'm currently teaching at a private school 45 min. away from home and really enjoy the community there. I did, however have an interview at a public school which is 11 (!) min. from home last Monday. My 3 references do not include my current principal, because she does not know I"m looking. I just got an email from the principal which I interviewed with and he wanted to know if he could contact my current principal for a reference. I"m taking this as really good news! Anyway, I of course said yes, and emailed my principal to give her a heads up.
My question is: has anyone experienced having their references called upon and not get the job? Could this be a standard thing that this district does- call several peoples references and then decide?
I guess I just need to be patience, right?

From my experience your references aren't called unless you are at the top of their lists. Good luck!

Just got an email from my principal saying that he did call and it sounds like it's down to me and one other person. She said she was very positive when speaking to him and it was a good conversation. Guess I just need to wait...by the phone!
I feel bad about interviewing behind her back because it's such a great school, and it's going to be hard to find a replacement for me (because salary is so low), but this is a great opportunity for me to get into public school.
Thanks so much for everyone's kind responses! My fiance is off on a business trip all week and I"m going out of my mind home alone! Thank goodness for this forum...and my dear kitty!
