I am so excited! I am going to be paying less on my mortgage than on my rent. I can not wait to finish painting and cleaning so I can move in!

I would give anything to be in a ONE STORY house again. I hate 3 story townhouses.

I like the fireplace and I love any kind of porch.

    What a cute little home.

CutNglue, I'm so tired of living in a tiny one story home! I want to live in a three story house! :) My cousin has a wonderful three story house, with a basement. I"m so jealous!

Funny. I hate it. It's too hard to supervise and raise kids properly when everyone is on different levels.

well this is my starter home. I plan on staying for a little while. I am in no hurry to move and neither is my little brother because he is tired of having to help me move!

WOw! Not bad! The two houses next door to me were just sold, but for a measly amount (around 63,000) I bought my house about two years ago for about 2 (ETA: no, not 2 times, it must have been 3 1/2 times that amount!!!) times that amount. I want to sell my house so that I can move into a better neighborhood but unfortunately there is no way I can sell it for nearly that amount. I am stuck for a long while. It is definitely a buyer's market. I was almost thinking of buying a house now, while th prices are so low, but I dunno....

Well, enjoy your new house. You got a really good deal! If you need any decorating tips, ask us. I love helping people to remodel their houses. :)

58,500! Wow, that sounds awesome! The house looks great!

I agree about a 3-story house being difficult. My 3 1/2 year old knows how to hide and get away with things. I am always up and down the stairs. I grew up in a 1000 foot (maybe smaller?) ranch and it was very nice.

Wow--I could not imagine paying that much for a townhouse. Our house is 3200 sq ft plus triple garage on 2 acres. We paid 150,000 for it 4 years ago. A friend bought a townhouse 3 months a townhouse 2 months ago that is 1500 sq ft for less than $100,000. It is amazing that we can all live in the same country but the cost of living is so different everywhere.

OP--Your new home is just precious and I hope that you have many happy times there.

There is a little shack up the street from me that is selling for 199k.
If we ever had a hurricane here I think it would blow away. Basically, around here you are paying more for the land than the actual "dwelling".

No--they are saying that the recession has not hit this area yet because so much income in Louisiana is from the oil and gas industry.

Your home would probably sell for close to $175 K here! Wow! It looks beautiful and I hope you enjoy making it your own! It looks like it has a lot of character, so it should be fun to decorate! Congratulations!

For a new teacher (since your avatar says that you're a 1st yr teacher), that's a great home! (I hope you don't take my statement the wrong way. I have yet to afford my own home in the extremely high cost of living where I am! :))

Great looking home! Looks very open and clean. How fun!

I bought my grandparents home after my grandfather died. I've done a lot of updates over the past couple of years. It isn't a big home, but we love it here.

Great deal! I wish I could sell my house. I want to move into something smaller and newer. I'm tired of busted pipes and uneven floors.
