Any good tips you've acquired over the years to not get sick!
Disgustingly awful Zicam chews. Chew thoroughly so that it slowly coats your mouth and tongue (not three chews then swallow). You need to follow the instructions though by chewing one chew and not eating or drinking for a specified time period. You repeat this every few hours. Off brands are also acceptable and cheaper.
Overdoing the vitamin C as soon as I feel it coming on (i.e. orange juice, oranges, other fruits, etc...) Yeah, not necessarily the best route, but I'm one of those push-through-anything kind of people, for better or worse .
Wash hands..a lot
Have your own box of Kleenex
All these things, plus don't let students use your supplies (pencils, staplers, tape, etc.). Set up an area for student supplies. Keep all your supplies to yourself.
Don't touch the kids' hands or any of their supplies.
adequate sleep too!!

How about their papers. Kind of hard to avoid touching those.
I took some airborne, but it settled in anyway. I'm ready to cut off my nose, but not to spite my face; because it's itching so much.
I swear by my neti pot. Flush all the crud out of your sinuses several times a day.
This one is the most difficult for me!
I was thinking about this too and looked up how long most germs can live on paper -- turns out, since germs need moisture to live, and porous materials like paper absorb moisture, most germs can't live on paper more than about 15 minutes. To avoid touching student papers for at least 15 minutes, have students pass their papers to a designated student who puts them all into your inbox. You can let them rest there until you think it's safe to pick them up!
I have separate supplies for students partially for germs and partially so they don't wander off. I also just sleep a lot when I feel one coming on.
Thanks for this! I always wondered about germs and paper...I'm going to start doing a collection area to keep me "safe" from the germies, lol.
Still working on getting rid of my first cold as well! It started last week with runny nose and now I'm on horribly sore throat with a nighttime cough which makes it hard to sleep. I'm taking tons of vitamin C and drinking Hot Toddy's at night

I feel it coming. So, I'm resting at home, making others cook dinner & do the dishes. I'm also going the extra sleep route and just trying to take better care of myself.
