I just got from my first official dentist visit.

Growing up, my family didn't have insurance, so we didn't go to the doctor or dentist, so I'm trying to catch up for all the time lost (4 cavity fillings!!!!).

The left side of my face is numb up to my eye balls, but I can still talk fairly decently. The pain should set in about an hour from now (I've already taken two advil in preparation ;))

Also, I found out that my dentist is from the same home town as me (population 2,000 folks). Small, small world ....

It's about time for me to get a cleaning myself! I've only had 1 cavity in my entire life & that was about 2 yrs ago.

Don't eat anything that requires chewing until the numbness goes away. I learnt my lesson the hard way. I bit the insides of my cheek really hard once, so I had the tooth pain as well as the chewed up cheek pain to deal with when the numbness went away.

Oh, and keep an ice pack handy. :)

    Too late!

I just ate spaghetti. (I'm a rebel, what can I say?)

Hahahaha... Did the insides of your cheek fare better than mine? :)

The numbness is getting close to wearing off.

No pain yet, but I still got a little more to go.

I'll probably be yelling about my cheeks here in about 30 minutes ...

How funny-- I had a 9:15 am appointment this morning. He pulled out the temporary crown (and it was in WELL, since it was in during surgery) and replaced it with a permanent one.

Before you get to that point, make sure you have some Extra Strength Tylenol ( or the painkiller of choice) in the house.

I very rarely use it, but when the Novacane wears off, you may be sore.

And count on something soft for dinner--pasta is perfect.

By tomorrow you'll be good as new.

I have noticed that sometimes the injection site from the novacaine hurts worse and for a longer time than the actual tooth taht was repaired!

Wow, Alice, you're another person who went to the dentist this week!

I personally know 3 people in my family, 2 friends, and my wife's dad (she just got off the phone with him, he has a severe tooth ache) that went/are going to the dentist this week.

I guess it's just that time of the year!

Oh, and P.S. ... my teeth NEVER hurt! Even after the Novacane, I've felt like a million bucks.

    Lucky I guess.

One of my doctors-- I forget which one-- said the other day that they always get lots of teachers as soon as school ends.

Took my daughter to the dentist today. She has 6 cavities!

Can I just say that nitrous oxide is a wonderful thing, and if you ever are asked it you want it, say YES. :)

I go to the dentist on Thursday for a panoramic X-Ray of my mouth, to get my wisdom teeth checked out (As my wisdom teeth are unable to be seen with the regular X-Ray used during the regular dental visits)
