I'm still feeling stunned from this. I didn't know raisins were toxic and left a Tupperware with about 2 cups of raisins on the counter. I came home and found the empty container, but didn't know I should worry. 6 hours later I looked it up and found they are like poison. The vet doesn't know if she will pull through. She will be in the hospital for 2 days.

I am so sorry. Prayers for you.

Our AbbyDog ate 70 ibuprofen (husband mistakenly left a new bottle on the counter when we were gone). The vets told us there was no way she would recover. They pumped her stomach and filled her with charcoal and fluids for 2 days. She DID recover. That was 7 years ago and she couldn't be healthier.

I'm so sorry :( There is a list of toxic foods for dogs and raisins/grapes is pretty high on the list. Wishing the best for your furbaby.

So glad puppy has perked up!

I had no idea raisins were poisonous for dogs.

Her kidney levels are back to normal. The doctor is keeping her one more night just to give her kidneys a few more hours of hydrating. It looks like she's going to pull through.

What a relief! Our pets are our babies and it is so easy to forget that some of our normal foods are poison to them.

Thanks for the updated pet food list. I need to print this out to teach my children.

I'm glad your furbaby is doing better.

Many spices and items like baking powder are poisonous for dogs too.

Thanks for the list. Another list also adds onions, garlic and nutmeg.

Thanks for adding that too! At the time, I didn't have time to look extensively for a good-looking list.

Oh, and walnuts too. I knew about the macadamia nuts but never knew about walnuts.

Bad news. Her levels rose after going off fluids. We chose to try 2 more days of fluid IV in the hospital to give her kidneys the best chance possible to heal. But most likely she will not live long after we take her off the IV Sunday night. We are very sad.
