Miss Kirby! Your classroom is absolutely awesome. I loveee it! I am so jealous of your carpet too. I might have to borrow some of your organization ideas-- THanks for sharing. You obviously worked very hard and it shows.
P.S. The caption was cut off = are the red bins on the horseshoe table for supplies on the first day?

It's not really a big decision, something small that I just can't make up my mind on! Students earn points by meeting expectations through out the day. We record points 6-7 times a day. In first grade all the teachers made a big laminated chart. In second grade all the teachers use a clip board with a paper chart, that they project on a screen. I'm used to the big chart, but wonder if I should just use the projector like the other teachers. There are pros/cons to both. Ugh, I just am so indecisive.

Thanks for the feedback you guys! I'm trying real hard to be organized. I hope you can get some ideas as I get so many ideas from looking at your pictures.

The red bins are for the supplies the kids bring on the first day. After I get them all in the storage cabinet then they'll be put away! I need to use them for more books!

BTW, I ordered nice color coded caddies from Really Good Stuff, and they didn't arrive before school started. :( SO I scrounged up four left overs from last year, and two from other teachers. They don't match so I put colored hand prints on them so that we can have the organization until the caddies get here. So that will make it look a little better when they come in!

Mailbox was at the school when I got there. But you can get them from places like Calloway House, etc.

The yellow bin is for BEE books, and the other trays are notes (nurse/office/tardy slips), extras (extra papers-it used to be at my desk but I like it over here because kids can grab something if they need it), and classwork (work they turn in, obviously!) :)

The bean bag chairs were from Target a few years ago. I also had a great tent if any of you remember, but it is gone now, RIP tent. :(

There's loads of those bins at Lakeshore, in all different sizes/colors, but maybe she found them cheaper. However, Lakeshore does have a 20% off sale right now.

IKEA!! Yay! For some reason, I didn't even think of anything from there, even though I was just there a week ago. :)

Yeah I want to go back and get some more cheap magazine file holder thingies.... I sorted and labeled all my teacher books with them, and then for reading workshop, I sorted my read alouds that I got with my Wells Fargo grant by comprehension strategy. I love it! So I want to do that with the rest of the read alouds. One for math, writing, social studies/science themes, etc. It's just such a far drive for really cheap stuff! Right now I Just have a labeled pieces of paper dividing the subjects. And I want to get more bins for more books, eventually I want to have bins for types of fiction and more nonfiction, and more chapter books, but it's going to be a process for me! Plus I need to acquire more bookshelves!

Having an IKEA ten minutes away = dangerous. Sometimes I wish it wasn't so close, so I just wouldn't drop in and see what they have. But you really can't beat their prices on a lot of organizational stuff!

Your classroom always looks great!!! I remember last year when I first joined this forum, you posted pics of your room. You have such great ideas!

When did you get those adorable bean bags???

Oh, and also- I was wondering about your carpet. You have the one I want! Lol. I want it so badly, I even posted about it. Did your school provide it, or did you purchase it yourself? I apologize if I am being too nosy. It's just that I am seriously considering buying it... but it's a great deal of money.

I am also woefully in love with that carpet, but after all I've spent this year I don't think I can dish out the money for it. I'm also curious if teachers pay out of pocket for it!

Oh wow! Okay let's see. I got the bean bag chairs maybe... three years ago. I haven't seen them at Target since, but they were in the kids camping section.

The carpet I ALMOST bought with my graduation money, but when the secretary overheard me talking about it, she said she had furniture money and ordered it for me! It was amazing! Only the K-1 teachers have it, but I use it in second grade. It's my favorite!

Thanks you guys, so much! :)
