Very cute! I like that basket you have with the pockets for each day of the week. Where did it come from? Also, what do you use the vowel wheel for?

Thanks! I got the days of the week baskets from Lowe's. I didn't even know they had stuff like that there, haha. I just got the vowel wheel, so I'm not sure what activities I'm going to do with it yet. I will definitely be using it for small groups during reading though.

Your room is very nice. What's in the yellow pocket chart?
I like your baskets all so. I can see lots of different games you can play with the vowel wheel. That's a great find.

    Thanks everyone! :)

The yellow pocket chart is used for the "Rockstar of the Week." It has pictures that the student can bring in, and some of their favorite things. The pics I have up now are mine, but I haven't filled in the info. yet.

I actually got the idea for the Focus Wall from another teacher's website. I have searched for her website all evening and can't find it... I can't remember her name for the life of me. If anyone knows, that would be great! Anyway, I love the idea and think it will really help the students. I will continue to search for the teacher's site whom I got the idea from. I remember her having a lot of great ideas.

i love love love your reading area! What grade do you teach? What are the baskets used for on the kids desks? Do you think they'll play with them during instruction?

    Thanks, amber1011. :)

I teach third grade. The baskets on the students desk are velcroed to the desks and contain materials that the kids will need throughout the day. This keeps pencils from rolling onto the floor and the kids from trying to find things in their desks during a lesson.

Thank you! At my school, we use the Scott Foresman Reading Series. Each week the Focus Wall is changed to fit the skills of that story. For every story, we display the title/genre, author/illustrator, strategy focus, study skills, comprehension skill, spelling words, and vocabulary words. I also display the grammar and writing focus for the week. It has really helped my students to have the areas of focus posted to refer to throughout the story.

I looked a little closer at your pictures and I saw the leveled readers that look the same as mine, so I'm assuming that it is Reading Street :) One more question, where did you get/what is it called, the awsome font that you used on your focus wall???:wow:
