I posted this in the first grade forum as well, but here is my progress on my room as of a couple days ago. I've been in there a couple days since and it's looking much better than in the pics, but I haven't taken pictures since. http://s565.photobucket.com/albums/ss95/iteachyourkids/Classroom 2009-2010/
Wow, I'm jealous!! That looks great!!! 2 questions: 1- How did you sort your books in the library, and how are you going to label them? 2- What are the files for on the floor under the calendar? Are those for math binders?
Where did you get the blue, green and pink baskets on the student tables? I've been looking for those!!
Your room has well coordinated colors and I love the softness of it. It really is a great room. I wish our walls were painted something besides white. I like that the whole room isn't painted in that color.
Thanks for all the nice compliments!! To answer some of the questions: The caddies or whatever they are called that you see on the table came from a local grocery store. I don't think they are a chain unfortunately!! The magazine files that are under the bulletin board are for their "good fit books." They will get to choose 5 books from the classroom library to put into the baskets, so when they complete their work early they can just go grab their "book basket" and read the books of their choice. As for organizing my classroom library. I didn't put as much work into organizing as I probably should have. I just labeled every single basket Fiction or Nonfiction- then I put what "type" of books they were like "People and Places", "Animal Characters","Dr. Seuss", "Amelia Bedelia", "Clifford and Friends" then I also had one for "Poetry", in the nonfiction I had "weather", "animals and insects", "biographies"..etc..I can't remember htem all off hand! But that gives you an idea. I just kinda broke it down into fiction and nonfiction..and then grouped them further into categories.
I love your rug. Your room looks very inviting!! I don't have enough space in my room to make a seating area like you did by your books, I love it.
Love it! Your color scheme is awesome! WHere did you get your lamp? I've seen similar ones at Target...but those colors are cool!
Great room!! It's very inviting but not too busy...that's what I like about it! The colors for your bulletin boards look great as does your reading area. How many children will you have in your class?
Your room looks so pretty with all the colors. I love how you have every thing organized and the carpet is very cool. Is the carpet just squares you laid down or did it actually come that way? Anyways you did a super job. I worked in a classroom last year that had tables and I wish I did for this year. I love the round tables. Good luck in your room this year, I'm sure students will love it!
Your room is AWESOME! It is very inviting and calming. As for the caddies, I saw them in the dollar section at Target.
Thanks so much for all the compliments! I do think you can even get caddies similar to those at Wal-mart. Wal-mart has come out with so many brightly colored containers. The lamp is from wal-mart as well. I still have to go get light bulbs for it! I got very lucky this year..the rug came with the room. It is a giant rug (not carpet squares) and it just adds so much color to the room.
I haven't been on this forum for a while and am so happy I dropped by. Your classroom is really nice. Good Work!!
