This year I had a very interesting class with many intelligent learners. At the end of the year, I gave them the task of writing a letter to next year's class with some possible sentence stems to get them started. While some students struggled to begin, several of my students were chugging away, filling the front and back in no time. I have chosen some of the funnier and cuter highlights to share...

Here's a surprising one from one of my highest kids:
"Miss ________ will expect you to be ready for 1st grade. In first grade it is harder than Kindergarten, I'm serious. You'll be struggling through school and your reading level has to be at a level I, that's your goal. I wish you good luck in first grade."

Here's a real no nonsense guide to school in general:
"This is how to act like a first grader. Be a good kiddo. Do not fight. Do not say bad words. Eat good, not bad. Do not have your toys in school. No pets in school. No bugs in school! No guns in school. No cutting hair in class. Do not throw colors in your classroom. No DS in school. Your school name is ________________. This is how you spell it. (Writes school name again.)"

    I miss them already.

I love "no cutting hair in class." I can just picture the teacher turning her back & when she turns around small chunks of hair are all over the desks!

LOL - Eat good, not bad - Too funny! Love how both guns and bugs made the list of things of not to bring to school!

That is so cute! When you really want to get a picture of what the kids think of you, get them to do the advice. I love sitting back and reading them! I've got a stack ready to hang for next year's group. :)

Eat good not bad was also one of my favorites! I also had another child who wrote "Your bedtime is 8 PM for 1st grade" probably because we had a friend who kept falling asleep in class this year so we talked about bedtimes every day for a while.

    That is so cute.
Did you have an incident where students tried to cut hair? Where did he get that from? lol

I know I had my kids do the same thing and they mentioned stuff that they know I do not like. Things we talked about in class. So funny.

I also do a similar activity with my students. I call it Handy Tips and have them write tips for my upcoming class on their handprint cutouts. My favorite one is that I always have a student that says, 'Don't ask for candy because you won't get it!"

So fun to have your students look back on your year for you! Ha ha! The cutting hair thing I'm not sure about. Our art teacher is kind of on her last legs at this point (we are a pretty tough community to work in) and I know she's had to stop doing scissors projects with them. Maybe we were having a salon in there! LOL So much funnier when you're away from it for a while...

oh, I had to laugh at this one! We talked about bedtime so much, that whenever they had a rough day, and I asked them why they thought they had such a rough one, someone would answer " because we didn't go to bed on time last night!"
