Last September (2011) I signed up with Verizon Fios and for the most parts I have absolutely zero complaints. I have the unlimited movie pack for $40 which gives me ALL the premium channels and I have never once had an issue with my wireless--unlike my time at Time Warner.

However, for the first year they were giving me a few discounts and not having me pay the entire price for my dvrs etc--so my bill was $189. Okay fine, I can handle that. Knowing that my year was almost up--I expected my bill to go up some seeing as my discounts were no longer vaild--but my new monthly bill is $225! To me this seems like a massive jump!

Has anyone else ever encountered an issue like this?

I guess $35 doesn't seem like that much, especially since you knew it was introductory rates at the beginning. Call and try to negotiate. They will often extend the trial price or offer other similar discounts.

With my experience with UVerse.. that's a common jump. We always had to call every 6 months to get the "latest special" and continue my bill at the current price.

Yes, with a local cable company we had a $99 a month deal for 2 years. When that ended it went up to $149. A few months later they raised it to $159. When it got to $164.99 we finally said enough and cancelled. Now we have have no cable. I watch tv online and use Netflix. Life is still good :)

I'll hate to see what my bill will jump up to after a year! I'm only 5 months into my new plan w/ cable, landline phone & internet. Now, pay $119.70/mo.

I had an intro rate for a year, but the regular price was outlined in the contract so I knew what to expect. Since you evidently weren't told what the regular price was, call and renegotiate.

Ours went from ~120 to ~145 after the first year stuff expired.

Try calling Verizon. They are very good about this stuff.

The same thing happened to us with our wireless. Every time the year for our "deal" was up, we'd call and say we were going to down grade because of the price. For three years they continued the discounted price for us. After that we just downgraded.
