I just saw the Jersey Boys musical today in Cleveland and I absolutely loved it. It was my first one and I'm glad I waited so long for a great show! I highly recommend spending the bucks and seeing yet. Better yet--spend the extra few bucks and get great seats, you won't regret it!

Just out of curiosity, what musicals do you enjoy or don't you enjoy.

I'm going to NYC in a few weeks and I'm seeing Rent and South Pacific. Anybody see any of those? Any opinions?

Can't wait to hear the responses :)

thats a great list deedee! I want to start going to more but, unfortunately, none of my friends are into musicals. It makes great grandma/granddaughter time tho :)

Wicked just left Cleveland about 3 or so months ago. I really wanted to catch it..maybe next time :/

Aww, I never get to see shows! The last one I went to was Stomp (very cool). I'd love to see Wicked and Jersey Boys.

    I love:
Phantom of the Opera (& Michael Crawford)
Les Miserables (The story, music, and of course The Friends of the ABC)
    The Scarlet Pimpernel
    The Music Man

I have Les Miserables in English & French. :) Not that I speak French mind you, I just love the way it sounds....

Oh, boy! I was a drama major, and I grew up in New Jersey just a short bus ride from Broadway. My first B'way show was the all-black version of Hello, Dolly! and I was hooked. These days I don't get to the theater very often, but here are a few of my favorites:
    Candide
    Grease
    Avenue Q
    Pippin
    A Little Night Music
    Sweeney Todd
    The Fantastiks
    Chicago

I saw Wicked in London, and while it's an impressive production, it wasn't my favorite show. My least favorite show of all time is Cats - prance, prance, prance, sing, prance, prance, prance, sing...I get it already! (If you're a fan, sorry!)

    Good memories!

    Grease
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (saw it in Chicago with Donnie Osmond)
    Jesus Christ Superstar
    Lion King (loved it!!!)

saw 42nd Street, but it wasn't my favorite.

Wicked is going to be in our area in February and I REALLY want to go...but tickets are not cheap....but, maybe now that I'll have a full-time job.... :p

I've been in amateur musical theater for most of my life, and have had a ball from the chorus. The only annoying thing is that I usually only get to see the leads from the rear.

Let's see... anything from Gilbert & Sullivan is worth catching, but you may want to look up the plot in advance because the stories are convoluted. Spamalot was surprisingly funny and more a mockery of current theater than straight Monty Python. Rent made me sob. Anything Goes is a laugh riot with great tapdancing. I'll think of more shows later.

I happen to be a genuine Arthur Award recipient.

Here's the picture to prove it.

I've LOVED musicals & other performing arts since I was a child! I also go to pro tennis matches, ice shows (as in figure skating), some ballet, live fashion shows, even illusionist shows.

    I've seen:

    Cats (2x)
    Showboat
    Les Miserables
    The Nutcracker (3x)
    Swan Lake ballet
The Lion King (in Los Angeles & on Broadway)
    Cirque de Voila
Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance
    Chinese Acrobats (3x)
Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
    Fiddler on the Roof
    The Sound of Music
    Annie
    Peter Pan
    David Copperfield in Vegas
    the symphony
a few other plays when I was in jr high (don't remember names)
I've seen numerous pro tennis players play
I've seen numerous ice skaters skate

I'll be seeing Wicked on August 10th & I'm positive I'll love it!

I'm sure I'm missing some other things!

Having gone to school with Patti LuPone I would go just to see her or her brother playing in some show. My mom would call me and ask if I had seen the latest "Life Goes On" She was Evita, was Nancy in Oliver!
I have seen a lot of B'way shows. Anytime you can go to one YOU SHOULD GO.

I started off as a musical theatre major in college. I ended up changing because I wanted to make sure I had a job, and also because most of my life I had wanted to be a teacher, and then changed to musical theatre my junior year of high school. I have seen too many to count, and love almost all of them!

My major in college was theater arts and although I'll almost always choose a play over a musical I still have a few favorites...RENT, Aida and Wicked. I enjoy watching musicals, but sometimes find them too over the top. Other good shows I've also seen Cabaret, Spamalot and Stomp.
