    Hi,
I'd like to buy some CDs of music to play while my students are working. I'd love to know if anyone has any recommendations that they would like to share. I'd like to get a few with "calming" music, and I'd also like some more fun music too.

    Thanks!!:)

I play classical music often during reading and writing workshop time. My husband downloaded 'Mental Mozart' for me...the kids love it and it does seem more peaceful in the room when it's on!:)

I had a Mozart for babies CD at one time. It is supposed to be mentally stimulating for baby's brain, so why not kids' brains, too!?

Gary Jess, George Winston, Missa Johnouchi. I also get those "atmospheric mood" cds at the kiosk in Target and similar stores.

My favorite is Yo Yo Ma. There is something calming and so cool about the sound of a cello. Plus the kids love his name, so I know they'll remember it!

You can get Classic Musical CD's with like over 100 pieces on itunes for like $10. It's nice to have a variety, but I seem to prefer Bach when it comes to Classical Music.

When I'm not in the mood for classical in the classroom I have some Putumayo Kids CD's. They have CD's with all types of music from all over the world. So far I have the Celtic, Hawaiian and African ones. I really want to get the Latin one and the New Orleans one in the near future!

You can find some good relaxing mood music at Dollar Tree sometimes. When my husband was a massage therapist, we found great relaxing music for $1. Can't beat that. Even had the ocean sounds mixed in with it.

This might be sort of far out there, but I have a few of these in my class:

My kids don't really know what it is, but I enjoy it. Older kids have figured it out :) (Especially those whose parents listen to rock.)
