I am putting together one of those picture video slide shows with music. It will be for my in-laws and all the pictures will be of them with my children. I have pictures from the day they were born to the present, my older son's graduation. Can anyone suggest some good music to put with it? It will be my kids Christmas gift to them so I want it to turn out great so I need some help picking out some music.:thanks:

There is a nice song called Gift Without a Bow, which is used as a grandparent dance at weddings... by Stuart Getz.

I guess it depends on the type of music you like...
I used Grandpa told me so by Kenny Chesney for on I did.

Please realize that all the songs that have been mentioned are copyrighted works...unless you obtain written permission to use them, you would be violating federal copyright law by making illegal copies of copyrighted material. I know this is nit-picky, but I believe you should be aware of the potential legal complications. We tend to think that recorded music is just ours to do with as we wish, but the use of anything that's copyrighted is under control of the copyright holder; technically and legally, written permission (or an ASCAP mechanical license) must be obtained for the use to be in compliance with the law. Just thought you might want to know....

Thanks for all the great ideas everyone!

So if I purchase music and use some of it on a video slide show presentation that is for my viewing ( and my family) then I am violating a copyright?

technically, yes. You're only purchasing the right to use that music in the form it comes in....not to place it in a different media form and/or attach it to a video presentation. I doubt the copyright police would come looking for you.....but (like going 56 MPH on the highway) it is technically in violation of the law.

I guess I have never thought of it that way. I just think about all of the businesses around here that make these video slide presentations, like for wedding and such, and use all kinds of music. I bet they don't have permission. OK...I'll be on the lookout for the copyright police...please don't tell on me;)

Look up Mood Music on the internet to get some ideas. I just checked one of the sites out and it has a great variety and samples to listen to.
