My bachelor degree is in Music Education, as is my primary certification. I tested for my 4-8 ELA/Reading and Social Studies certification, and passed to receive my secondary cert. Any position I've interviewed for in regard to my secondary certification resulted in me being told I didn't have enough experience in ELA/Reading or Social Studies (student teaching and my other intern positions have been in a music classroom). Any ideas as to how to make myself seem like less of a risk (or more appealing) to principals as an ELA/Reading or Social Studies teacher?? The only position open now is an ELA/Reading job.

If you are willing to re-locate to sunny Southern Arizona, our district is in the process of interviewing for a general K-5 music teacher. Coronado Elementary School in the Nogales Unified School District is looking to fill the vacant general music position.

Contact Human Resources director, Vickie Degiso
(google up Nogales Unifed School District).

    Good Luck!
