Last year, one of our requirements was to drill the students on multiplication facts every day. We decided to go with a chant format because our students seem to like this better than paper drills (other than the timed tests...they LOVE those!). Each day, a new student leads the chant. We started with 3s and went up from there.
I'm wondering if anyone knows of some fun chants that can be used. I did a google search, but didn't really seem to come up with too much. I want something that's going to help them remember the facts but is also fun! Any ideas?

9's finger trick. Search this on the net for an explanation. Hard to explain w/out being able to show you...It's really cool though. I'll give it a try...
-Hold up all fingers in front of you.
-9 x 2......put down your second finger only..
-Here's what you have left....1 finger is in front of the lowered finger...and 8 are on the other side of the lowered finger...=18...

6's....this only works when multiplying by an even # We usually
shout the numbers they have in common to show the pattern...

    6 x 4! is 2 4!
    6 x 6 is 3 6!
    6 x8 is 4 8!

    Hope this helps :)

I love the idea of chanting the facts! I'm going to try and make some up for the more difficult facts. And isn't it a shame that we have to teach multiplication facts in 5th grade?

I just found these ideas on another forum by googling multiplication raps and chants. I just cut and pasted it for you.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I found these on another website..........Kathy Bagley's website. I hope they help you out.

Below are the multiplication chants we sing in the classroom to help us learn our facts.
    4’s (military chant)
    4,8,12,16(repeat this)
    20,24,28(repeat this)
    32 & 36 (repeat this)
Too much homework makes me sick!
    40, 44, 48 (repeat this)
Counting by 4’s is really great!
    (repeat this)

    Sound off... 1 - 2
    Sound off... 3 - 4
    Bring it on home...
    1, 2, 3, 4
    1, 2
    3, 4

    6’s (Tune of Twinkle Twinkle)

    6, 12, 18, 24, 30
    36
    42
    48, 54, 60
    66
    72
    We love counting
    Don’t you too!

7’s (tune of Where is Thumbkin)
    7, 14
    21, 28
    35
    42
    49, 56
    63, 70
    77, 84
    77, 84

    8’s (tune of Jingle Bells)

    8, 16,
    24
    32 & 40
    48
    56
    64 & 72

    &
    96 too
    We love counting by 8’s
