thank you for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. you are all so sweet and it is really appreciated! mincc, i love your pup! my husband and I have a pitbull mix named Jake. He is the absolute sweetest dog I have ever owned, and I had a golden retriever as a child. he is about 7 now, not too sure b/c we adopted him from a shelter in 2001.
You are welcome!!!! Vent away. My poor neighbor came over to check on me the other night (our street lost power and my husband works til midnight and later at times) and I just vented and vented. He was a good listener! Sometimes, you just need an ear. Jake is a great name! You love pitbulls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sophia is my baby and best friend. We got her from the shelter in 2001, too. She is 6 and a half now if the vet predicted correctly. She is totally deaf and the BIGGEST love bug, 42 pounds worth (we cannot lose that last 2 cause we love treats). She thanks you for the compliment and says to tell Jake hello! What color is he? She is all white, and probably has a bit of another breed in her. I love the breed... my heart aches at how they are mistreated and their reputation. I understand that people fear them, but I wish they would take the time to know them. I have met so many sweet and loving pitbulls and know that many are therapy dogs. I know a lady who takes hers to a school and he lets the kids read to him. It has been a great program. IF I ever get a teaching job, I want to do that. One of my interviewers thought it was a neat idea. I could go on and on..... Anyways, Sophie says hello again, this is her with her sister, who is 2 years old and partially blind:
OH MY GOODNESS that is the cutest photo! My best friend has two pits. They are love bugs. I just went to let them out for my friend. Sadi is 12.5 yrs old, and Buggies is probably around 8 maybe 9. I swear he acts like a puppy still. Sadi is just starting to act old. My dog is a mix. She is 9 yrs old.
mincc, My friend does animal rescue as her profession, and she has rescued many pits. It's so sad to see them get such bad reputations. Such a mush!!1
Jake is white too, with some brindle spots. I can't seem to paste a picture in this email. Our heart breaks as well for all of the mistreated pitbulls. They are such a misunderstood breed. We adopted him from a shelter in NY and there were so many there. Have you checked out www.spbr.org ? The guy, Eric, who runs the rescue used to live in Connecticut, but now he lives in upstate NY. The work he does is amazing, he has a bunch of people that foster but he alone does so much work. Once we move we'd like to get another friend for Jake through this guy. It's so funny to find out how many people have pitbulls! It's like we all belong to the same club or something.
Thank you Jaime-they love to pose! I love the names of your friend's dogs! What other breed(s) is in your dog? MissFrizz, Tell your friend I said thanks!!!!! They are big mushes. Mine does not like rain, wet grass-she is afraid and actually tiptoes. She also loves to kiss and kiss and kiss...no limit! Looking, You can post a pic by downloading your pics to a hosting site. I use photobucket. Then you can just copy on to here. I am going to check out that site-thanks so much. I love hearing about people like him!
Mya (my dog) actually looks just like an Australian Kelpie. She is to big though, they usually weigh about 35 to 45 pounds. Mya is 56. http://www.justusdogs.com.au/template_images/AustrKelpieLiver2_wb.jpg
Hi mincc! I was just reading this thread. I got hooked b/c I am a dog person, too! I have a 2 yr old Lab, Gracie. I got her 2 months ago from Lab rescue. Anyway, we are currently taking therapy training. My goal is to get her into the READ (Reading Education Assistance Dogs) program. I am so excited about this! Please pray for me that I pass the therapy test so that I can move on!
Annie, We will certainly send prayers and good thoughts your way! I know you and Gracie will do just fine! That is so awesome!!!!! Please let us know how it goes and give Gracie a hug from us. Btw, I love her name-we almost chose it for our dog, it was between Grace and Sophia...which I got from the show "The Golden Girls." Plus, I am Italian so I figured she should have such a name. Thank you for rescuing her-I love that!
