My school is in a temporary location and will be in the permanent location by January (after winter break). How would you navigate and talk to students about the move? We are supposed to start boxing up in the next few weeks. I haven’t really approached the topic with students yet, but an admin mentioned it to a student and they gave a look of panic. I have young elementary aged students.
Can you show photos of the new building? Involve them in packing up, while explaining how you will label the boxes so you can find everything when unpacking?
The above ideas are great! Could you have them do a special art project to decorate their new school? 1x we took the ceiling tiles down and the kids sketched and painted them beautifully with their own designs and names. They were a cool memory for kids. We made a mural out of tiles 1x that got put on a wall and stayed for years. Any art or decorations could help.
