What are some of your favorite movement activities? I need more ideas!! I feel like I do the same songs over and over and would like a variety of different songs and other movement activities.

    Count to 100 by 5's

    Dr. Jean
    Alphabet Aerobics

Cha Cha Slide, Too-Tee-Ta (sp?), Chicken Dance, and the Hokey Pokey are good ones to "get the wiggles out" :)

I have invested in LOTS of cds.

    Greg and Steve
    Dr. Jean
    Jack Hartmann
    Jim Gill
    Laurie Berkner

My classes always end up with favorite songs they want to do over and over, but I also have lots of "fresh" songs available throughout the year.

I don't have any of the fancy stuff. But, I do walks with my kids.Soon as I see them getting the wiggles I have them do a walk through the desert, jungle, beach, park, or anything you can think of. Kids stay in place during the whole time. It's basically using your imagination to act out the walk. You should see my kids when I see Oh wow look at that huge slide, do you want to go on it? They are so excited as if they are actually about to go on a slide. Then I slowly bring down the energy until I get them sitting and back to all we have to do. Works great for me!

-Bear Hunt! I change it up A LOT and use whatever ANIMAL that starts with the SOUND OF THE WEEK.
-A lot of my movement stuff that I add to my agenda are my own songs or games that I make up.
I have a song about diff animals & what they are known for.
    e.g......
I'm an elephant with a big long trunk.
Look @ me! I'm full of spunk!
Swing my trunk to the left.
Swing my trunk to the right.
    If you mess with me,
There just might be a fight!:D

Other verses are about a giraffe, a monkey, etc.

In addition to the great suggestions already mentioned we sometimes sing good old Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes once through and change it up. I change the initial sound to each word (ex.. mead, moulders, mees, and moes) It makes the kids laugh. We sing it through several times more with different initial sounds. You can also change the speed the song is sung - super fast, slow, etc..

I also sing a song that moves up the body to remove wiggles -
My toes are starting to wiggle
My toes are starting to wiggle
My toes are starting to wiggle.. around, around, around

Repeat song with body parts moving up to head. After head complete song with "my whole body" and they enjoy getting wiggles out of whole body.
