I have about 10 minutes with breakfast for my students to do morning work - does anyone have any suggestions on what would be good for them to do in that short of a time?

    Read, if they will.
Mine do a language review page from the only workbook the school supplies for us.

Perhaps some vocabulary review? Crosswords, matching, word searches that they can finish the following day. I've been doing math and it takes FOREVER...

How about journal writing? People on AtoZ have posted prompts for every day of the year.

In my classroom math is the first 80 minutes of the day, so when my students enter, I have book work from the previous day's math lesson written on the board for them to work on. Then we review it QUICKLY before moving on to the lesson of the day. This gives them a reminder of what we studied yesterday and is a good segue into the next lesson. I allow them to work VERY quietly with a neighbor if they absolutley need to.

I like that idea. We also have math immediately after I finish lunch count and the pledge. All but two stay with me for math. I may try that next week.
