My principal has decided to begin a Morning Program in our 1-4 school. It will occur 2 to 3 times a week for approx. 20 - 25 minutes in the morning. First and second grades will go together on some mornings, then third and fourth on other mornings. The pledge, birthdays, some songs, perhaps a discussion on a school problem will occur. Does anyone have such a program in their school? If so, how does your work, has it been successful, and what activities are included in your program. Also, does anyone know any sites that discuss the program. Thanks for your input.

We have a morning show daily, but it is never more than 10minutes--usually 5. The principal does it on Mondays and goes through announcements for the whole school. Every other day is run by 5th grade anchors. At the beginning of the year any fifth grader can apply to help with the morning show--there are all sorts of jobs: camera, editor, anchor, etc. The menu is given everyday and any school news. Student and staff birthdays scroll on the T.V. before the shows starts. In years past they would have students come down and share what was going on in their classroom. K/1 one day, 2/3 another, etc.
