Thanks for sharing! This may have already been posted - but there is another Staples sale tomorrow too. Folders are 1 cent - rulers, protracters, pencils, and cap erasers are 5 cents.

Office Max also has binders 4 for $3. I need to buy a class set. Is this the cheapest I will find them or should I hold out?

I also saw that they have 300 pk index cards for $.99, Sharpies and Expo Markers BOGO, and scissors for $.25.

I would imagine that would be hard to beat! $1.00 for binders is about the cheapest I have ever seen them except about the end of September when they get marked down at some stores.

I was at Wal-Mart yesterday with a good friend of mine, and this is my first year teaching. I'm still getting basic supplies together, and also planning to keep my kiddos organized. Anyway, I will have upwards of 30 kids, and each kid will have 2 folders in their desk (provided by me), so I took advantage of the 10 cent deals and got 50 folders of one color, 50 folders of another, and then 10 of folders I plan to use for absent kiddos. The poor lady at the checkout counter! She just looked at my huge stacks of folders and I think she might have grimaced. :p The guy behind asked if we were teachers...as if that isn't obvious! :)

I am trying to stock up but I always think of something in December I should have gotten at these wonderful back to school sales.

    So far I've purchased

    liquid glue
2 sets of 25 pocket folders
    1 set of 25 .10 spiral notebooks

I'm thinking I should get more spirals...

What else am I not thinking about?

When you stick those labels from the label printer on things, do they come off? Can you stick them on laminate shelving?

in my experience i go with crayola. the color in the roseart ones isn't as vivid and the lead seems to break more.

The ones that Office Depot is selling look just like the Office Max one (in the paper) and Office Depot's are 2 for $1! I may have to buy some of these......

I bought a labeler last year and I am SO glad. The labels stick to every surface I've tried. this year, I peeled some labels off of old stuff and reapplied them to new locations and it worked!

All the good stuff happens the weekend I'll be out of town. (Aug 4th) But maybe I'll get to some of those stores where I'll be.

By the way - I've noticed in the past that as it gets closer to the start of school, prices dip even lower. We're talking 5 cent folders, etc. If you've already bought stuff from stores, many of them will give you the difference if the price drops within a certain time span. You have to ask - they don't advertise. All you have to do is take in your receipt. I think it's just 1 week at Wal-Mart (at least that's all it was when I worked there) whereas at Best Buy it's 30 days. If you buy a lot, the difference can be huge - so keep watching the sales even if you have everything you need! Also, as tax free weekend approaches in many states, you might see bigger sales.

Don't forget to check with a store manager about the limits. Because of people here, I checked at Staples this week and got 15 of all their 5 cent sale items (pencils, erasers, rulers, protractors). Be sure to take your ID along.

I went to Big Lots yesterday and was let down by the school supplies/sales, but I did sign up for an email about their Teacher Appreciation day on the website!
