I'm looking for a movie to help wrap up my unit on the Middle East (modern times- basically post WWII). Any recommendations for a documentary style movie or even something from Hollywood would be greatly appreciated.

Persepolis was a great movie. I'd link it for you but I don't have the privilege yet. :(

"Promises" deals with the Palestinian Israeli conflict -- not sure if that would fit in?

"Persepolis" is a great movie, but I don't think you'd be allowed to show it. I'm not sure of the rating, though.

A horribly depressing movie called "Osama" (no relation to bin Laden) was put out 4-5 years ago. It's about a 12-year-old girl in Afghanistan during a women's revolt who cuts off her hair and poses as a boy so she can work and make money for her family. When she gets found out, some awful stuff happens. Of course, you'd really need to watch it beforehand to decide if your students could handle it or not.
