MikeTeachesMath - one of our own needs us

Mike and his husband were in a horrible head-on car crash Tuesday night. Our friend has suffered a shattered tibia, four broken ribs, and internal bleeding, including swelling in his brain. He is heading into surgery as I type this. I have just learned that even with a full recovery, he will never dance again (walk, yes).

Mike is a very dear person to so many of us. His husband has given me permission to share this information with all of the forum. He told me to pray for the best but prepare for the worst. Please give him a moment of your thoughts.

It's going to be a long night. When I have news, I will update. He has wonderful people by his side. I'm glad how many of us are ON his side as well.

I am not a praying person, but I am so devastated to hear about Mike that I do implore any powers-that-be to watch over him. Thank you for letting us know and keeping us updated.

Cat--please let us know any updates--I feel like the people here on the forum are almost family. I will have my students praying tomorrow for Shane and Mike.

 

Shane just texted to let me know Mike made it through the night. Still touch and go, but I'll take it!

He was. Broken femur, two cracked ribs, and a bad gash in his arm where the windshield cut him. He's mending nicely and hurting a lot less than he was a few days ago. His mother is on the scene taking care of both of them.
