Hello, New to the board-excited to be using it. Here's the problem. I have a group of struggling readers who are expected to read Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. There is no way that is going to happen in terms of their decoding or comprehension levels. Do people have suggestions about how they have handled this kind of situation? Some have suggested tapes but the tapes that have been provided have readers that speak so fast that it is extremely hard to follow. For The Giver, I constructed a reader's theater. But that was extremely time-consuming and this book is much longer. What other suggestions do folks have out there? I could always break the rules and read a simpler book-The Friendship- and focus on the benchmarks. What are folks doing?
