    I just have to know...

Am I the only one who wakes up at 2-3 with an idea for work? I woke up at 3 this morning with an idea for a novel study for my "high" group, and have been working on it since. Yes, I will be tired today - but at least it is done!

Sooooo, does anyone else do this?

BTW I think that this is my 1100th post  Who would have thought I would get here lol !

I do my best thinking at 2am. I also think it has something to do with menopause (ha Ha). But as teachers and during the school year our minds are constantly working. I think we find it hard to close it down even when we sleep. BTW I haven't made many posts, but I love this site. Jacky from Australia.

    me too

Me too... I thought I was alone with waking up at 2-3am with ideas. There are times where I am up for hours working on the idea I thought of. What I TRY to do now is, keep a pad or post it notes, and pen next to my bed and write it down. There are times though, when the idea really gets me going and I can't stop working on it until it's done.

Rarely while I sleep, but almost every day in the shower plans just form and come together.

Hey Amanda, Having a notepad is a good idea as it then tends to clear your head a bit. Also to you you Lupin43 some of my best lesson plans for the day come to me in the shower but my ideas for themes and classroom layout etc come to me at 2am

I do it all the time. I also come up with my best ideas in the middle of the night. The only problem is that I forget them in the morning. I need to keep a notepad!

You're not alone. If I don't wake up in the middle of the night doing this, I dream about it or I think about it so much before I go to sleep that I have trouble falling asleep! I also come up with ideas in the shower. Too bad paper is not exactly water proof. :)

Those kinds of thoughts are the death of me. I have sleep issues and this kind of thing has me so motivated that I have to plot it out or make demos and then I'm grumpy and tired the next day. The worst ones are the ones that occur about 8-9pm.

OMG, I was up at 2:30 this a.m. working on geometric dinosaur books for my little 2nd graders. It turned out great & I was so glad that I got it all together. Yea, I was dragging by the end of the day but it was worth it.

I use to do this all the time when I was teaching piano, and also when I was a music major.......I'd compose music in my sleep and wake up and write it down.

One in particular that I like is "Feels like Rain"....
    You probably haven't heard it...

Down here the river, meets the sea
And in the sticky heat I feel ya' open up to me
Love comes out of nowhere baby, just like a hurricane
    And it feels like rain
    And it feels like rain

Lying here, underneath the stars right next to you
And I'm wondering who you are and
    How do you do?
    How do you do, baby?
The clouds roll in across the moon
And the wind howls out your name
    And it feels like rain
    And it feels like rain

We never going to make that bridge tonight baby
    Across lake Ponchartrain
    And it feels like rain
    And it feels like rain

So batten down the hatch baby
And leave your heart up your sleeve
It looks like we're in for stormy weather,
That ain't no cause for us to leave
Just lay here, in my arms
Let it wash away the pain
    And it feels like rain

I sat around all of Christmas break looking at teaching websites, so of course, the night before I'm supposed to go back my mind races for hours about what things to put into action! Ever since then, I haven't had any 2 AM wonderful ideas.

Me too. But I usually wake up with an idea about 4 a m and then I get so engrossed in working on it that I end up running late and have to rush to get to school on time!
