I just wanted to inform you that I am going to be the Teacher Advisor for grades 3-5 on Scholastic.com for the 2009-2010 school year. I was recommended by the current advisor, Angela Bunyi, who is featured here- http://www2.scholastic.com/browse/contributor.jsp?id=3747413.

I wanted to say it will be exciting to be able to communicate with you at the A-Z Forums about new posts and sometimes ask your input about some topics I may post. I am ecstatic to represent you, grades 3-5 teachers!

I hope I can relate to everyone somehow in my posts and provide a plethora of resources for you. Besides that, I will let you know about my plans for the blog over time.

Does anyone want me to write about something specific next year? I am in the process of planning my topics and would love to address something you would like to know more about.

Yea! I love Angela's resources and yours as well.

I would love to see something on incorporating HOTS in the classroom. I use HOTS, but I am always looking for new ideas.

Would also like to see cheap (but good) resources for making your classroom look great and flow well. I know you have some awesome ideas about that :)

Very, very cool! Looking forward to reading your....what do you call them?

I want to know about some of the newer picture books that help with showing kids what good writing looks like. I have several already...Fireflies, The Shortcut, Owl Moon, ....but I need more and more and more.

I will write about a plethora of topics for you, and anyone can come to me for help at anytime, though all the advisors are spectacular and VERY knowledgeable! :) You'll enjoy this bunch a great deal- they're awesome in person and I am positive they will do an excellent job online.

How do you become a Scholastic Advisor? That is so exciting that you will be able to share all of your knowledge and information with us all. Can't wait to work with you this year!

We become Scholastic advisors when someone recommends us, basically. There is nothing you can do to apply- I wondered that for quite some time because I have wanted to be one since Beth Newingham was one. Somehow, my dreams came true.

Then to subscribe to anyone, go here- http://blogs.scholastic.com/classroom_solutions/ - and find whomever you desire to subscribe to. :) Then after you click on our post to read more, there are options on our page that show up so you can subscribe to any of us. Here is a little bit about each of us. (I met them in May in New York when we had our pictures taken and discussed the weblog.)

Megan teaches Kindergarten in CA. She is extremely strong when it comes to movie making/green screen technology. She also has a lot of ideas for reading and other subjects- her room is spacious and includes a lot of neat resources I am looking forward to learning more about. Her bulletin board ideas are great, too.

Eric is also from CA and teaches second grade. He has a lot of ideas for centers, and he posts student work around the room. I like how his library has "reading buddies" and the books are in bins (Megan's are, also). His video shows a lot of the distinct areas of his classroom.

I (Victoria) am from Brooksville, FL and teach fourth grade. My video doesn't show my room at its best, in my opinion, and I think what I am planning right now is a lot better. Yet I am into interactive bulletin boards, journaling across the curriculum, reading connections across the curriculum, and how to make subjects more hands-on. The area I struggle with a little is video; I want to learn more about green screen technology.

Stacey is a sixth grade math and science teacher from Murfreesboro, TN. I really like how she leads the robotics team at her school, which is a K-6 school. She has a lot of technology in her classroom. Her classroom supports gifted and talented learners, as mine also does. I get excited by her spunk and enthusiasm overall.

Justin is a 9th grade Read 180 teacher from CA. He is very structured and has an AMAZING video. He has transformed students who barely read before into strong readers. Students admit they never read as much in other classes as they have his class. He builds a strong rapport with his students, and I respect that a great deal.

I feel informing all of you about the Teacher Advisors may help you to find people who meet your needs. We are looking forward to making this a wonderful year for all of you.

You know what... you can contribute any side thoughts to a few of my blogs, and I'll give you credit. :) Same for anyone. I think after each blog post I make, I'll tell you about it- and then give you the topic for the following week so perhaps you can suggest anything. I'd love to spotlight some great teachers on my weblog this year. Perhaps they could start a homeschool weblog somewhere on the site, though, because there's so much else.
