I would appreciate any and all advice you can give me on my dilemna. I have 19 kids this year-a pretty well behaved group in general, but very low academically. I feel like we have made good gains in reading, but math is an area they are much weaker in. Our district uses EveryDay Math, and I hate it with a passion. We move around sooo much and I feel like my kids aren't mastering much. My kids who are ok in math do ok, but it is leaving my super low ones and even ones who are somewhat average but struggle in some math areas behind? Has anyone done Guided Math group-like situations similar to guided reading and had success with it? I don't know if my principal would let me deviate from EveryDay Math like that-she has told me we can supplement, but I don't think she would let me go that far.. Also, no aide, just RTI support for 30 min of math time...my RTI person is wonderful and does all she can with my low kids, but I just don't have enough support for all these needs.. I am ready to pull my hair out about this.. These ED math lessons make me feel like a failure as a teacher, and I have to fix it...I'm just not sure what to do..
