    Hi,

I am thinking of taking part 3 of the Math CSET in September. What supplemental books do you recommend? Also, I am interested in starting a study group if anyone is interested. I live in the East Bay in Northern California. let me know.

innovationguy: I forgot to ask you. Are calculators allowed for the third portion of the math CSET?

Just go on ebay and buy the cheapest older-edition calculus and trig textbooks and accompanying solution manuals. I passed 3 in May with nothing but those, and using online vids on iTunes and YouTube as needed.

At least a good 2 - 3 months for each subtest as the last time I took a math class was at least 15 years ago. I took a course from one of the office of education. I think it was contra costa as I was living in that area 3 years ago. As for tutoring, I have a daughter so I won't be able to do that. I have the email of the guy that teaches the CSET study course if you give me your email. I don't want to post his email address for all the world to see.

I would say it took me 2-3 months, of studying (avg 6 hours a day) for each sub-test. I took the tests 1 at a time. That's for somebody who only has 1 Algebra class 16 yrs ago in my transcripts. If you have a stronger math background, obviously you won't need to dedicate your life to it.

Most helpful starting point for narrowing down exactly what you need and save you some time is the UCI online course.

Don't expect in depth derivatives and integrals. You are on a time limit. They will only ask broad calculus questions.
