Happiness here as the Aztecs won their first NCAA game in 40 years. I keep wondering how these ahtletes actually do their classes to stay eligible?

Congrats on the Aztecs..... :).... College athletes do miss a lot of classes, especially basketball players who travel so frequently.... Unfortunately many don't stay eligible..... and many that do have the benefit of tutors... and have (some) professors who cut them a lot of slack.

My Longhorns play 13th seed Oakland this morning in Tulsa..... I don't know anything about Oakland. This year you never know which Texas team will show up... Hopefully they will move on to the next round.

Major--the Texas-Oakland game is one that I think could easily go either way, although I think that Texas will win and have them going to the Elite Eight, so we'll see...

I was feeling really good about my bracket after the afternoon games yesterday, because I had correctly picked Morehead State and Richmond and had only missed on Butler, but then of course the night games messed me up!

Syracuse doesn't play until about 10pm tonight and that's if the Xavier-Marquette game finishes on time...I'm going to be really tired at work tomorrow!

You're right, Kangaroo..... this game can go either way. I took a look at Oakland..... turns out they are the 2nd highest scoring team in the nation... led by a 6' 1" center...

After this round ..... the games will become even more interesting...

This tournament has been one wild ride so far. Ohio State got off to a very slow start but we are getting our groove back. My bracket is doing ok but last year I did a lot better.

My bracket is sad, but it's 100 times better than my husband's.

And an anecdote: my baseball players miss far more classes than other athletes, even basketball players who have to play in the playoffs. They miss over a month's worth of classes throughout the course of spring semester, and that's without post-season games.

I didn't fill out one this year..our school is closing, and everyone's starting to get depressed, plus with us just finding out where we're going next year, so the mood there is pretty tense..I watch for the buzzer beaters and the upsets...there's been some great games so far..just wish I had been able to watch them....

Texas lives to play another day. They simply had too much depth for Oakland. The 'Horns bench contributed big time. Oakland never gave up... and because of Texas turnovers near the end of the game could have pulled this one out.

    Next up - AZ

Thanks....... 'Horns can't afford all the turnovers.

Interesting game going on now..... 5th seed WVA vs. 4th seed Kentucky...

It was a good first half, MrsC (hope you are having a nice day up there in Canada..:hugs:)

Interesting to note Kentucky is starting 3 Freshman, 1 Junior, and one Senior..... Unless some of these turn pro.... KY will be very tough next year..... (KY must eliminate some of the fouling to have a chance in the 2nd half.)

I think a lot of people forgot (including me) that they made it to the Final Four last year. It was definitley a the most exciting 7 seconds of a basketball game I've ever seen.

That was a wild finish, math1bee.... I've watched replays of those 7 seconds at least a dozen times.... Butler moves on........ The Panthers go home..

Duke and Carolina both hang on for another trip to the Sweet 16. *whew*

Carolina has some great talent but they have GOT to quit digging themselves into a hole at the beginning of the game. They did the same thing against Maryland and Clemson in the ACC tournament and I said then they would not be able to beat Duke if they kept doing that. Duke won the ACC tournament.

I was surprised Duke had such a hard time with Michigan. Obviously the Wolverines have some serious talent and coaching as well. Didn't get to see all the game, but Michigan definitely gave Duke all they could handle.

OSU still looks to be the easy favorite. They are definitely the most well-rounded team in the tournament. And VCU should have silenced all doubters with their two very convincing wins so far. Looks like they are for real.

Lots of exciting finishes this weekend! My UConn Huskies made it into the Sweet 16, and they're playing SDSU in Anaheim. I had visions of going to the game, until I saw the ticket prices. We'll be watching it on TV Thursday!

KU should have a fairly easy road to the Final Four. Taking nothing away from Richmond and VCU has been very impressive, but I doubt either one of them will have enough for the Jayhawks.

Lots of good games yesterday, but I'm so disappointed that Syracuse lost...I think I'll route for VCU, UCONN, Richmond and Marquette now.

Okay, I don't hate any team...they are, after all, made up of young students. And I actually feel sadness for losing teams and the ending of their dream (such a girl, I know...no offense ladies). So, I can't possibly hold Laettner's shot against this year's Duke team. But I have to say, I smiled last night. :p

Wow.. do we share a brain!?!? I feel the same way. The final loss is so hard, especially for SRs!!!

Ok... I amnot a Laettner fan either.... I remember when he went pro he played for Minnesota Timberwolves... we went to a game & I said I'm sorry I cannot cheer for the Wolves that Laettner guy is on there!!!

Whew...feel better now!!! Told fam we have to wash all our GATOR clothes so we can wear them tomorrow!!! It must be my shiny green eyeliner that I wear on game days!!! LOL!!!

I can't believe Duke lost last night! When I turned in (at half time) they were ahead. There goes one of my final four teams.

My Huskies pulled it out--I was rooting for Duke to lose, but maybe not as badly as they did! Arizona looks fierce! Should be quite a game on Saturday. GO UCONN!

I knew Arizona might give Duke some competition, but I never suspected they would shut them down completely in the 2nd half. I kept expecting Arizona to run out of steam or Duke to gain some, but it never happened. Arizona just dominated the 2nd half.

Likewise, I expected more of a challenge from Marquette to UNC. The Tarheels have some great talent, but they are still fairly young and don't always play to their potential. No problem with that tonight. Marquette has run into an UNC buzzsaw.

I thought my Longhorns just might have beaten AZ....... but they didn't by a point........ I NEVER expected AZ to beat Duke... especially the way they did in the 2nd half...... Can't figure that one out.

The game I'm really looking forward later tonight is UK vs. OSU... UK might get clobbered but if their freshman really have a good game.... it might be interesting......
