While I was writing my last post, the cell rang and... I GOT THE JOB!!!!! :woot: :woot: :woot: I am shaking and in tears. It was the last position for my content in my geographical area as defined on our state map. It's last minute, I haven't even seen the actual school yet (renovations, floor waxinig, etc.), all kinds of stuff to do. And, the principal told me that the asst. princ (who I thought really didn't like me at all) was most impressed with me. CAlls and emails to make...check you later with details.
You did a great job and now you know he was trying to rattle you. GOOD JOB! Step one, breathe, step two go to your states education website and pull off the state standards for your subject. READ THEM. THen go to your district website look under curriculum (its usually there or under academics) and find your disctricts curriculum maps, the timelines and suggested activities for each of the major topic your district wants covered. THen make arrangements to sign contract, get your materials ASAP. But once you have read the standards, and looked over your schools curriculum map you are in better shape.
Oh, I am most familiar with Missouri GLEs. I just got done this spring completing two years of curriculum mapping for 7-12 English Language Arts. It's already been done for my new school, yea!!! The district's curriculum stuff is not currently online as there has been some revamping going on, but I met the AS for Curriculum the other day, and will need to talk with her anyway about some other stuff, so will ask her if I can get access to what's available for my classes. I have to do a background check (new everytime you change districts here...this is new by the state, so new to me), contract has to be approved (with salary...new schedules this year) with board on 8/9 (first day of New Teacher Orientation...p. said to just show up for it, and he'd take the rap if there was a problem, but there probably won't be one), so there's a lot going on. Mostly, just need to begin gathering and writing lessons as I don't have as much for jr high as I do for HS. THx for the advice. With all that's swirling around me right now, these basic details may have floated passed me til the new wore off.
No, it was the one from Monday. The guy from McDonald's (???that sounds wierd!) did call yesterday and told me that he had made another choice, which was find as it turned out cuz I have a sneeky suspicion that that school was going through some turmoil and I don't want any of that again. But, I sure did appreciate him letting my know quickly instead of stringing me along. Well, off for celebration lunch with S16 and hubby:woot:
Oh, no, did that immediately. Email when I got home from interview, hardcopy right afterwards. Need to shoot little cards in the mail for extra thanks today but they (admins) are all out of town for a few days anyway on secret admins missions, ha! THanks for the well-wishes.
I just want to thank everyone so much for all of your help and support during this job search time. This is the best board ever! I truly hope those of you that are still searching have good luck and find what you are looking for very soon. The one thing that I feel has helped me the most is how reading the posts, everyone's situations, etc. helped change my attitude and perspective about the job search. It's easy to think that it's all about you but it may not be. It's just gotta be a good fit. I learned by play by the "rules" of education job search and, guess what, it worked! So, hang in there, use the tools available and DON'T GIVE UP!
