How much do a manicure and pedicure cost in your area?

I've only had a few in my life, and all of my pedicures have been gifts. My husband surprised me with a pedicure this week and I just went back for a manicure today because I thought the price was pretty cheap. When I was in Idaho it cost $50-60 for a pedicure. The only reason I went was because a parent of one of my students got me a gift certificate for one!

Here in Hawaii the salon on base had prices that ranged from $20-35 for a pedicure and $12.50 for a basic manicure. I got designs on my fingernails so it was more expensive.

I don't normally go...I could count the # of times I've gotten them on probably 2 hands by now, but it's seemed to spike up in price over the last 5 yrs. The last time I got a pedi alone was $40 or $45! Not something I'm willing to spend money on regularly. I'd rather get my hair done, but I'd get a pedi over a mani. $20-25 OK, but when it gets to be in the $30s & $40s, yikes.

How much are those GEL manicures? They're supposed to last a good time though right?

I've never had a gel manicure. I'm really cheap so I almost always do my nails myself. I think I've had maybe 4-5 pedicures in my life and this was my 3rd manicure. I've never had any type of acrylic nails either.

I don't get them often, but I've never paid more than $20-25.

$20-40 for a pedicure (basic, deluxe, spa) and $10-20 for a manicure. I go about every two to three weeks.

I live in a moderately expensive area. The norm is about $30-35 for a mani-pedi. If I drive a few miles in one direction, I can get both for about $20. If I drive a few miles the other direction into the posh area, a pedicures alone run about $50.

I will say, however, the $50 pedicure is a deluxe version with extended massage and 1st class service.

I usually get a gel manicure because I am rough on my nails and manage to mess them up before they dry. If I get a gel manicure and a regular pedicure at my usual place, the total is usually $65, but I don't remember what the breakup is. I did find a place in a nearby town where for the same thing it's only $50, and if gas was cheaper it would be worth it to go there!

I pay $20 for a spa pedi which includes a paraffin treatment and hot stone massage. Regular manis run $10.

I get a gel manicure about every three or four weeks because my nails are so weeak. I like it better than acrylic nails because the gel covers my own nails. I have them apply a gel color and it doesn't come off. I pay 25 $.

I pay $45 for solar (a form of gel or acrylic) nails and $35 for a pedicure about every 3-4 weeks.

Does the gel come off easily with nail polish remover or do you have to go back to the salon to remove it?

Gel manis run about $30, more if you want glitter/design. Regular manis about $20. Pedis are anywhere from $30-50 depending on the place you go.

You have to soak the gel (shellac) nails just like you have to do with acrylic nails. Sally Hanson has just come out with a home gel kit that has the UV light to seal the polish coats. They say it lasts about a month just like salon gel nails do.

There is a really popular groupon in my area that is a manicure and a martini from Beauty Bar for $10. I've never actually been but I have friends who use them. I've gotten one manicure in my life and the polish started coming off that very same night! I can make my nails look nice myself so I've never really been interested.

I love treating myself to a pedi. Generally, they run about $20. I've paid $30 before at one nail place, but it was worth the price because it lasted almost an hour. I always leave a $5 tip, too.

I need to start getting manicures again. My nails are a mess from all the projects I've been doing lately. I've only had a couple of pedicures. I'm so ticklish that they weren't very pleasant.

It looks like they're a lot cheaper than I thought in most places. I wonder why it was so expensive in Idaho.

I really love the manicure I got done today. I might start going more often. I'm really picky because I'm strangely obsessed with my nails. I remember in 5th grade my teacher would always tell me to stop looking at my fingernails! I just stopped biting my nails probably 2 years ago, so I really like doing my nails now.

Was it at a fancy spa place? That could account for a higher price. If it was just your run of the mill strip mall place, then they're totally overcharging.

Not really. It was a really small town that was about 45 minutes from a large city. They probably got away with charging more because there weren't any other options!

A spa pedi is about $25 here. I used to go once a month but I've cut back. Now it's a treat.

I think manis are $12. I never get manis because my hands are always a mess.

I have to go to the salon, but I don't want to remove it because my nails are so much stronger and nicer with it. I just have it refilled every few weeks.

I have my fingernails done every two weeks; I've got acrylic nails and it is $40 to have them filled.

Pedicures are $60 and are more like a spa treatment...paraffin, exfoliating, etc. I don't do it very often since it takes over 90 minutes and I don't often have the extra time, but it sure feels good when I have.

The place I normally go to is $30 for a regular mani/spa pedi combo. There's a place near the kids' pediatrician's office that's $25 for a gel mani/spa pedi combo. It's a bit of a drive, so I don't go there all that often. I like the place that's more local and they're not too badly priced, so I generally go there.

Pedicures were $25, $35, $45 and $55. Different prices = different services. The $55 had the paraffin dip and hot stones. The $25 was basically removing dead skin and painting. Designs are $10.

    Now...
They've gone up from $35 - $65, and they now charge an extra $5 to use the pumice thing on your heel to get the dead skin off. They don't take appointments, you just go in and get whoever gets finished with the person in front of you. The last two times, I've gotten the person who does the crappiest job - so not worth the money. I haven't gone in a long time. I've just been using Gold Bond's heal therapy and painting them myself.

    Not sure about a manicure.
