I was wondering what other K teachers thought about Mailbox and Teacher's Helper for K. I had both when I taught 5th and Teacher's Helper was more beneficial with the worksheets for practice. I did use Mailbox some, the ideas were good, but not always grade specific, since it was intermediate and for 3-6. Do you use either of these magazines? If so, which? Do you think it would be helpful to get them for kindergarten?
I teach K and I use both magazines. However, if I had to choose one over the other, I would definitely choose Teacher's Helper. I find that, while I get some great ideas from Mailbox, I use the extra practice worksheets a lot more.
I pay for the online version. The Mailbox Gold. I think its $59.95 or something like that. It has the past 6 months of digital issues of Mailbox and like 10 years of Teacher's Helper worksheets plus more. I love it. You can print out the Mailbox magazine (and all the other worksheets and stuff) or save it to your computer.
Yes per year. I forgot that part lol. My purchase of other resource books has gone way down. I also have a subscription to the Scholastic printables too. Between the 2 I find tons of stuff and you can look at other grade level stuff too. The Mailbox one you can only see your specific grade level Mailbox magazine though.
They are sponsoring A to Z Teacher Stuff right now, so look for their ads on the site. I think they might have some special offers through them. MyMailbox is one of them and free to try. I think you can ugrade to Gold to get more printables.
I haven't seen the teacher's helper...I usually just buy the mailbox yearbook... I don't use dittos though...
